Hello everyone! Thank you for deciding to join Altered For Life's very first on-line book discussion! You're a forerunner!--woo hoo! I'm pleased as punch to be in this reading community with so many wonderful people.

My name is Miya and I'm constantly looking for ways to improve myself as a follower of Christ, a wife, and mother. Reading books that supplement regular prayer and studying the Bible are critical to my sanity. More importantly, developing relationships with others who are on this journey called life has blessed me beyond measure.

This group is in the experimental phase. (Didn't know that you were a guinea pig, did ya?) I'll upload "teaser" comments to get a discussion thread started. If you have suggestions for how we can improve, then please feel free to post in the "Suggestions" folder. Our book choices will vary as will our target audience.

If you desire, introduce yourself to the group. Why did you join? What do you hope to gain? How do you intend to use this experience to help others?

Tina | 5 comments Hi Amanda (and group),

I'm Tina, married to Aaron (10 years), and mom of 4 little people. I live in Catonsville, Md and I too made the decision to come home with the both of my first child. I am in this group because I have committed myself to reading and personal development each month in order to keep myself motivated and balanced.

I look forward to hearing from and sharing with the group as we all seek to improve ourselves and our children.

Shayla Mitchener | 3 comments Hi Everyone!

My name is Shayla Mitchener. I live in Laurel, MD and work full time with the Department of Defense. My husband(Cedric) and I will be married three years this August. Our honeymoon baby just turned two and we are expecting another child(January 2018).

Typically I do not miss church often but this pregnancy has not been the easiest. We will be 16 weeks on Tuesday and I'm starting to feel a little bit better. I joined the group to stay connected and get reconnected since I have been MIA these last few months. As a parent I feel I haven't been able to do as much and I just want to come back stronger. I'm also looking for spiritual growth for myself.

I intend to share my experience with others in hopes that it might impact/help some part of their life.

Looking forward to learning and growing from our discussions, as well as getting to know people.

Excited for you Shayla! January babies rock!
Proud of you for desiring to remain connected. Learning that we all go through seasons when our participation in traditional "church" activities is limited (or ceases). Hoping that this proves to be a better second trimester and a positive on-line experience!
