'What is a marginalised author?
An author who identifies with one or more of the following marginalised identities: race, ethnic, cultural, disability, religious, mental illness, LGBTQIA+, Native or Indigenous.'

Do you think you could give examples of marginalized cultural identity? I'm not sure what it means exactly.
Also, as far as ethnicity, is it based on our own country as readers or the author's country? For instance, if I, as a French-American, read a book by a Pakistani author, they can be considered an ethnic minority from my point of view. However, if said author lives in Pakistan, they are not a minority/marginalized in their own country. Does that make sense?
Jade wrote: "..is (marginalisation) based on our own country as readers or the author's country?"Marginalisation is based on our own country's perspective as readers, so the example you used (above of the author originally from Pakistan) would work for this reading challenge. In addition, if the author was Chinese-American and the reader was French-American/Chinese-American, the author would still be considered a marginalised author for this reading challenge as part of their identity is marginalised in the US. I hope this helps!

Ah cool thanks. I'd heard that but wasn't sure if it was more a Dracula esque thing which is more myth. So thank you for that! :D
Though just for info it has been nominated for a couple of fantasy awards and is listed as fantasy in most places online.
Hi there! This may not be the righr place but I hope someone can help please? I'm planning on joining in the readathon, but I'm currently camping in the middle of a field. I don't have access to my TBR pile so can't take a picture at the moment, can that challenge wait until I get back home?
Also, just to clarify, do we need to check in every day? And once I start using goodreads do I need to solely use goodreads or can I mix and match with booktube when I'm home with WiFi?
Thanks
Karoline

Hi! You don't need to take a picture. Creating a discussion here listing your class and TBR is enough. You have to leave the link to your discussion in some sort of online collection of links (you'll find it in the creator's original blog post for the challenge) so it's proof that you entered, but that's pretty much it. I hope you can enter, there's only a few hours left to do so.
As a woman of colour, Marie Lu counts as a marginalised author, while Neal Schusterman similarly qualifies based on his Judaism.

Hi everybody,I am planning on reading some books by Terry Pratchett and was just wondering: Does he count as a marginalised author because of his illness? What do you think? It does not really fit with mental illness or disablity, does it?
Happy reading!
If I finish the Rogue's path, I plan to read these books for the Mage's Path:One word title - Laurinda (YA contemporary)
Contains magic - A Jigsaw of Fire and Stars (YA fantasy ARC)
Mythology - Food of the Gods (Fantasy ARC)
Set in a different world - Starswept (YA ARC) or Raven Stratagem (Both SF)
First book in a series - Saga, Vol. 1 (SFF Graphic novel)
*All books except Saga are by marginalised authors.

Thanks Megan!! I was trying to find suggestions not necessarily by marginalized authors. The main list seems to only list those books that are mythology AND by a marginalized author. While I have nothing against reading marginalized authors, I was trying to find out if any of the books I already own fit the 'based on mythology' block! This helped me I own the Eon & Eona Duology so at least I know I can use that. :-)
Okay, here are the books I plan to read for this challenge:First Book in a Series: Soulless
One World Title: Redshirts
Mythology: Norse Mythology
Another World: Mortal Engines
Book with Magic: The Invisible Library

All awesome choices! I am really enjoying Starswept and loved Food of the Gods! Plus I have a few of the others downloaded to read.

Hey guys, I need some help with my book choices!I just want to make sure all of these books somehow constitute within the Mage theme, and since I haven't read them, I don't know if they fit the rules.
Here's my TBR:
The Wrath and the Dawn
Red Queen
An Ember in the Ashes
The Winner's Curse
Geekerella

Priority list #2:
Prom Nights from Hell
Etiquette & Espionage

Thanks!

Actually I ended up reading The Last Unicorn for A Book Containing Magic. I hadn't read it since I was a teenager, forty years ago. It's still wonderful.Dixie wrote: "Okay, here are the books I plan to read for this challenge:
