August Toppler - New Authors
A few rules:1. Books must be started and finished in this time period to qualify.
2. You may read any format - paperback, hardcover, ebook, or audiobook. For the last two use the page numbers on the first edition that comes up on the GR page.
3. Each book must be at least 175 pages.
4. Each task may be completed multiple times by any team member and any book may be read by multiple team members. But, each book read can only be used to fill one task.
Toppler books can count toward the monthly challenge, the group theme read, and/or the yearly challenge, if they qualify.
New to topplers? Here's where you can find more info:
What is a Toppler, Anyway?
How to Win a Toppler
Do graphic novels count? I have the graphic novel version of Kindred: A Graphic Novel Adaptation which is a new to me author. It appears to have more text than the usual graphic novels.

Nope, films don't count. It only matters if you've read their books (including audiobooks).

Great decision Kristie. In that case, I may well be reading Psycho (It has a shower on the front to double for the annual challenge)

It will be a team Toppler?
No, Mariab. It's an individual toppler this time. Our next weeklong team toppler will be in October.
I'd like to give this a go. I'll chose How To Be A Vigilante: A Diary. I've never read anything by Luke Smitherd.
Ooh, this one may be challenging for me, as most of the books on my list for this year are by authors I've read. There are a few that are not, so I'll narrow those down and move them to the top of my list.
Excellent toppler choice, I already have a few books on my shelves by new authors, I'll just have to set them aside so I don't read them beforehand!
Thanks, Sam. Glad you like it. I figured it's summer and I know I've been busy and other people have as well. An easy toppler seems like just the thing. :)
Yay, nice and easy toppler for a nice lazy, warm day in the Northern Hemisphere, cold snuggly day in the Southern Hemisphere - love it - thanks Kristie!

Just a suggestion, but why don't you up the page count for graphic novels?
this is good I've got a couple of new authors up next in my TBR pile. Hopefully I can finish at least 1
I'm on vacation, but I'll join in when I can. I am going to start with See What I Have Done by Sarah Schmidt.
I have a couple of books lined up. It depends what mood I'm in, but I plan to read either Hook's Tale: Being the Account of an Unjustly Villainized Pirate Written by Himself or When I Wake Up.
I have got several books lined up, but I haven't yet decided which one to pick. I guess I will just go for the book I am most in the mood for once the toppler starts.
Nice countdown clock Kristie! I plan to read The Stranger in the Woods: The Extraordinary Story of the Last True Hermit by Michael Finkel.
I'm going to start with My Man Jeeves which has the most amount of pages. After that, I'll decide on another one from this list:
How Come the Best Clues Are Always in the Garbage?
After the Armistice Ball
From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler
Counting Down!!!
Guinness World Record for Most Toppled Books
Margo wrote: "I have How To Be A Vigilante: A Diary ready to go. My first toppler!!"That sounds like a fun read! How do you find such bizarre books?
Have fun for your first Toppler!
Just got back from my morning walk. I'll dig out my reading as soon as I shower. Good old Phoenix. It's 9 am and 90 degrees. Good thing I got out for a walk while it was still cool.
Well I've been in a reading slump ..... I've not finished a book since Aug 5th and barely read a word since then. This is very unlike me, who usually averages about 5 books a week. However I'm going to see if I can sit down and use this as a way to kick start my reading again. Wish me luck!
I've picked a couple of new authors from my year-long book list. They are Sunflower Morning (for favorite flower) and Krampus and The Thief of Christmas (for favorite movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas).
Running a little behind but getting ready to start A Dad for her Twins. Sorry on phone app and can't link.Happy Toppling Everyone!
I am starting See What I Have Done by Sarah Schmidt. This is her debut novel, and I am anxious to read it.
Happy Reading, Everyone!
Coming in a bit late. Have my one tipple for the day; a iced coffee with pumpkin cream liquor. YUMMY!I'm starting The Pitcher Shower.
Welcome to Margo and anyone else digging in for their first Toppler! Enjoy!
I hate to do this, but I started Hook's Tale and am just not into it. Even though it is shorter, it will probably take me longer than 24 hours to read it because it's just not grabbing me. I am putting it aside and starting Everything You Want Me to Be instead. Hopefully, this one will go quicker.
I'm a bit late to the party, but better late than never right? I am just about to start Wicked Gentlemen.Enjoy the toppler everyone!

As promised this will be an easy toppler! The goal is to choose a book written by an author that is new to you. The author has to be completely new. Books that are written under a pseudonym for an author you have previously read do not count. Also, reading a different genre, etc by an author you have already read does not count. A collection of short stories works, as long as ALL of the authors are new to you.
If you want to topple your shelves, try choosing something that is already on your TBR.
