I love P&P! It's one of the few books that I own and have read more than once. Still, I can see how it may not be for everyone. I'm not a fan of a lot of the classics.
Jo wrote: "Yeah i just dont like any classics. Im a modern girl lol "Usually I would agree with you about that. However, it is almost blasphemy to say you don't like P&P! LOL It is one of the very (and I mean VERY) few classics that is actually a good book. Most of the time I get so bogged down trying to translate what they are saying, that I lose interest. I don't like books that are overflowing with detail, either. Like instead of saying, "He walked through wet grass in the morning.", some of them drag it out into, " In the early hours of the breaking dawn, he wanderend aimlessly through a sea of dewey green. The ocean of grass stood before him and sparkled like emeralds. The wild blades, long untended by men, reached up and moistened the bottom of his pantaloons.". Ahhhhh! GET ON WITH IT! Sorry, I'm rambling.
LOL! I really think Anne could write a classic!! That cracked me up! I'm reading Melissa Marr right now just finished Wicked Lovely. Every time there is dialog there is this long discription before each statement. It took some time to get used to it, and the discriptions are Beau-teee-ful, But I caught myself having to reread the last statement the last person said over and over. I got all wrapped up into her discription and forgot what they were talking about! Arg! Got to stay awake reading that one. It's lovely writting though. I did enjoy the story. Just had to stay on my toes!!
Jo, I liked Wicked Lovely, but I think I was too tainted by all the hype to really love it. If you go into it with no expectations, I think you will really enjoy it.Thanks, Karen! I think maybe I'll write a book with nothing but loooong descriptions about random things. I'm sure someone will love it!
I really liked it! starting the second one today when I find the time! Wish you lived closer Jo I'd lend it to you! :( UK is pretty far!! wonder how much it costs to mail a book there Hmmm...
Jo wrote: "I just finished it! It was so good. Wasnt expecting it to be that good :) "So glad you liked it! Probably helped that there wasn't a ton of hype about it, huh?
I have it on my Sony Reader and am about 3rd of the way through, like it so far and much better than I did the Twilight series - sorry fans!
Hmmm. I didn't love it in that same gooey way that I loved Twilight, though. (I'm not including the other 3 books in that statement) BUT when I read Twilight I hadn't heard anything about it. I wasn't expecting anything great, and I think it made a huge difference. The Host is a really good book, too... Wonder when the movie will be coming out? LOL
LMAO! I could definately find a way to cope! I'm not talented enough to write a bestseller, though. Oh well, guess I'll have to keep plodding along in reality and hope I win the lottery!
I can't even think up a good bedtime story to tell my kids. Trust me, I know my limitations. Ha!By the way, you never told me how you felt about the human/slug love story going on in the book. Did you think it was gross or were you ok with it?
Heehee! I knew you couldn't resist getting a jab in! I felt so bad for her because she was sooo nonviolent! I kept wanting to shake her and yell, "Whack that guy with a club! He's gonna kill you, for God's sake!".
I just started this book. I will post more thoughts once I've gotten farther into the book.
