IMHO - Laura K Hamilton can cut down the mass production in favor of more quality.

I know she still works full time and all that, and I wouldn't even mind the long wait if she would have stuck with a logical story line for book 5. It's like she just pulled it out of her rear end from what I've read of the book so far. It's just frustrating.

I also have to agree with Felix that Laurell K. H. might be mass producing novels, but that the quality is no longer there. It went from UF/PNR to full blown erotica around book 5 or 6 of the Anita Blake series and I have been disappointed since. I have nothing against erotica, it's just not what I was expecting this series would be. Yes, I still buy them in the hope that she will come back to having an actual story in there, and I did see an attempt at it in Kiss the Dead, but I am considering giving up on reading her books. The Merry Gentry series also started out really well and went downhill after book three or so.

I agree with the LKH comments. Though I still love the AB novels (I've yet to read any MG ones, mostly because the negative reviews), I did like it profoundly more when it was a good story line. It was one of the first books/series I had read that didn't (at the time) jump right into sex for the MC. That chastity lasted until book 6, and even then it didn't get more extreme (her f**king everything with a pulse) until a few books later. Even with the ardeur, she tried to fight it for a time being. But after the initial resistance to loads of raunchy sex, the dam broke, and BAM...we have paperback porn. As you said, if you were expecting erotica, it wouldn't have been so bad, but alas, it was an unexpected turn, for me at least. I miss when she used to actually be a good "cop" at whatnot, when she would try to figure things out, and go kick some ass. But now she just f**ks her way out of any problem. It's lazy on LKH's part. Hopefully, since she took a slightly longer break before working on book 22, maybe it'll start getting better. Yet again, only time will tell...

I'm not normally resentful of a wait between book releases. I re-read books anyway, so I just start a series over when a new volume comes out. If being patient means getting a more masterful result, then I shall be patient.
I loved 1-3. I thought 4 kind of veered off in a new direction, but I was hopeful that there was a reason for it. (Other than a vague recollection of "otherness" about 4, though, I can't be more specific 'cause I read it about 4000 years ago and the details are hazy.) In any case, even though I've got tons of stuff I already own to read before I'll let myself buy anything new, I was still really looking forward to this.
But if #5 got all weird...
I'll still probably read it, if only to see for myself, but now I'm preemptively disappointed.

That said my opinion is that Britain went off on a tangent and allowed us to see what could be a possible future if Karigan and company fail. As a stand alone book it isn't bad, but it is not a Green Rider book. I also feel it does not add to the series since most of the story can not be integrated in to unfolding plot. Of course I could be wrong and if I am it will be fun to see how she does it. I felt that she wanted to write a Steampunk novel and this was her solution. On another point that was brought up; I am like most people I get frustrated with the years that passes between each book. I do have a hard time accepting her explanation, but lie someone above said, she may still be working full time as a ranger. If that is so I can understand as I too have a hard time writing and working a full time job that chews up over 50 hours a week. She may be lucky to punch out 1000 words some day and that does not include the time needed for editing, revising and working in changes suggested by first readers and editors. So if that is the reason we just have to be understanding. And not working her other job may not be a option. First there is nothing that says she can live on the money she makes writing and two, she sounds like she loves her job as a Ranger so why should she quite? We can hope that she is able to return to the world of the Green Rider and entertain us with the people we have come to know and love (and in some cases despise. lol)

1. Why does she take an average of 3-4 years to put out another book? She doesn't act like she's working on anything else. Now 5 books into it, it's been close to a 20 year ordeal. Wtf? Laurell K. Hamilton has put out 21 books in barely more time than she's spent on a whole whopping 5.
2. I'm only in the beginning of Mirror Sight, the 5th book, however I already have a bad feeling. It feels so far off from the other books, I don't know what to think. And I was looking so forward to it too. And, from a few of the reviews I've read about it, I need to plan to be extremely disappointed. Where the heck did this book idea come from? How did she honestly come to the conclusion that going this far off the Green Rider/Sacoridian track was a good idea????
3. This isn't the last book. Though, at least for books 1-4, I do love this series so far, I'm also ready for it to be done with because, since the 5th book came out in May, we're probably not going to see book 6 (which is hopefully better than the horse sh*t I'm apparently getting myself into with book 5) until around 2018 or so. Not to repeat myself, but....WTF. There comes a point when it doesn't matter how good a book is or isn't, mostly because of the author, you just don't give a crap anymore. I'm almost at that point.
