Have a nice visit Carol. We'll be on good behavior until you return. I love that cover. So elegant. Mine is like the one posted at the start of the thread.
This will be my second reading.
I was just thinking this morning if you had been to visit your friend yet. Hope all goes well for you. My book has this cover -

It was delayed because she ended up back in hospital. All good now though.
I'd like to get going now, but we are dropping a family member at the airport on our way.

Enjoy your time away, Carol. My cover is the one at the top of the thread also. Nothing as pretty as the other two.
I'm close to finished (this book is a very quick read) I like it but my copy recommends ages 9-11. Not in the 21st century! More like 7-9 & I think younger children could enjoy having it read to them.
I'm at part three and loving it (kid at heart). Agree that it is better suited to today's 7-9s to read themselves, but I think the storyline would appeal more to younger kids.
I've finished - really liked it. Will wait for a few more of you to have completed it before I discuss it.:)
I'm finished too. Reminded me a lot of the stories in those 'girls' books I inherited from my Mum. I really liked the story and how, even writing for children, MMK could build in the element of suspense. And yes, Katy, I thought the names were very imaginative.
I thought there were a lot of positive messages there for girls, encouraging independence, being valued for your character & abilities rather than relying on good looks.
