Upper Elementary Book Review discussion

Nate has life going pretty well in middle school. He has great friends and draws awesome cartoons. But then he gets paired with his archenemy Gina. Not only does he have to do his special project with her, she's on his intramural team as well and she's on a mission to ruin everything. Can Nate end up on top? This is the second book in the Big Nate series.

I thought I wouldn't like this. The words in the cartoons combined with the story text was a little disorienting at first. However, as the story went on and I started to understand the flow, the cartoons actually enhanced the story. Great lessons on leadership, underestimating people, and even important facts about Ben Franklin. This is a great book for reluctant or struggling readers, and I think a lot of boys would like this as well. This book is on a 4.0 reading level.
