Hi everyone! I want to start off by saying Welcome and thank you for joining this group. Please bear with me. This is the first group anything ive ever started and I'm not that good with technology. If any of you can help or offer tips that would be great! I'm a major technophobe! Obviously were all here because we love Eileen or her pen name Ailene Frances books. I though we could start off by introducing ourselves. My name is Genice, I live in Toms River, NJ and am married with one 9 year old daughter. I'm basically a stay at home mom who reads to keep my sanity. Hope to hear from all of you soon! Have a great weekend!

Hi nice to meet you! I'm Aimee, I live in Pleasant Grove, Utah. I've been divorced for a few years now and I have 3 girls. My oldest starts her first year of college this coming school year. I have a senior in high school and a 7th grader. They grow up too fast!
I work at a gas station 4 nights a week and when I'm not working I'm trying to read or sleep lol
I just gotta say, I am so glad i started young when having kids, (not on purpose), cause between their activities, school work, and my job...wow! I don't how other moms do it, cause I'm exhausted all the time! Lol

HI everyone!

First off, WOW! This is my FIRST group on Goodreads so I am excited! :)

well, the shortest version of my story is (and yes, this IS the short version!):
I am 44, single, no kids, but I do have the most adorable furbaby in my 13 year old Sheltie, Piper! (TONS of pics on my FB page if anyone is interested! LOL)

In the summer of 2011, I spent 6 weeks in the hospital with an almost fatal bout of c-difficile that has left me with a lot of internal damage & scarring as well as ulcerative colitis. They didn't remove my colon because they didn't think I would survive the surgery, I was THAT sick! My colon was so enlarged/swollen it almost ruptured, but it didn't. It left me with a lot of pain, especially in my upper right hand side of my gut, that is ALWAYS there and greatly limits my physical abilities. ANYTHING that puts pressure on my gut is bad! Snug clothes, bending, lifting and sitting... ESPECIALLY sitting! I can only sleep on my back, propped up with pillows beside me to rest my arms on (and prevent me from rolling over). That is also the only position that helps to relieve some of my pain. Between the ulcerative colitis & the colon damage, I have to be very careful with my diet. How much I eat, when I eat, what I eat... I did lose over 75lbs the first year, but I did find some of it again! LOL I am also on heavy pain meds which greatly affects my memory and concentration levels, but I can deal with that if it means I can "lose" some of the pain!

So it will come to no surprise that I am on permanent disability. I live with my parents, who besides being my best friends, are also able to help me out with my daily stuff I need help with! :)

I have always been an avid reader, and after I had joined FB in 2014, met my bestie who introduced me to a review group, I discovered I LOVED reviewing, so I left the group and now do reviewing on my own. In fact ALL of my reading time is booked up with reviewing! (pun fully intended! LOL) And I can read all that I want and I STILL don't have enough time to read all of the amazing books out there! It doesn't stop me from buying books, mind you! I am slowing down on the reviewing, so once I am all caught up I will be able to read them all! BINGE-READ-A-THON! And I won't have to wait for the next books to come out, or at least won't have to wait too long!

I am a HUGE paranormal fan who also loves fantasy, sci-fi, magic, mythology, etc. But I NEVER have anything to do with zombies! NEVER EVER!

Anyway, that is me! It's great to be here and while I am somewhat tech savvy (thanks to my Dad who has been a computer guy his whole life!), I am not overly familar with Goodreads, beyond posting reviews, adding books to my "want to read" list and befriending authors, but I will try to help out with whatever I can! :) Feel free to send me friend invites on FB too, if anyone is also on there! Hello y'all!!

First off, I want to thank Genice for starting this wonderful goodreads group. Then, I want to thank all who have joined so far and those who join in the future. What an exciting thing to have people come together to discuss my writings!!! Whether you're into paranormal, historical, or contemporary, I truly hope that something I've written give you pleasurable entertainment.

I'm sure you're a little curious about me, so I'll give you a bit about myself. I was born in upstate New York, but I traveled quite a bit around the country and experienced life from anything like 3 months to 8 years in various areas. About 5 years ago, I resettled in upstate New York and I have no plans to leave again. I started my writing career as a freelance writer and copy-editor for small magazines and newspapers and authors. I've ghost written a few books and edited many.
My first books published were spiritual self-help. It wasn't until I was staying with family in Las Vegas, Nevada that I wrote my first vampire novel. It was a Friday night and I'd just finished watching Dracula. Something inside me clicked and I had an idea for a novel. I wrote it in third person, titled it "Vampires in Vegas," and created the pen name of R. A. Lura. It received a fabulous 5 star review by Midwest Book Review and got some reader interaction. One reader declared it "better than Twilight".
I don't know what possessed me to create such an awful pen name as R.A. Lura and I wasn't comfortable with it, nor was I happy with the title of the novel, since there were a huge amount of Vegas Vampire books. So, I rewrote "Vampires in Vegas" into first person point of view by Dan Tugur [one of the handsome heroes], renamed it "Vampire Iniquity", and I used my real name of Eileen Sheehan as the author. After that, book two "The Cure", and book three "Vampires and Werewolves" were easy to create. When I was satisfied with the story-line, I dubbed the trilogy "The Tugurlan Chronicles" since the vampire slayers were of the Tugurlan lineage. Admittedly, my 3 heroes in the Tugurlan Chronicles are the sexy and emotional ones for you to fall in love, feel sorry for, or root for. If you fall in love in love with my evil vampires, then, I'd be forced to raise an eyebrow.
"Dark Escape" and "The Search for the Crystal Key" was my next creation. I had such a good time writing that story. It started out as one book, but the publisher felt it was too large so I broke it into two novels; "Dark Escape" being a little shorter. Although there are no vampires in this story -good or bad- there's a whole lot of magic and fantasy. I guess that if I had to compare it to a contemporary best seller -which I'm not keen on doing, but get asked on occasion- I'd have to say its creatures and characters remind me of an adult Harry Potter. This is the only story I've written that I feel would be good for young adults because it does not have sex scenes or even the mention of sex in it. There's attraction and romance, but no bedroom scenes.
"The Vampire, The Handler, and Me" was not intended to be a steamy vampire romance. It was supposed to be my very first contemporary romance. I had little in mind as far as plot and just let it flow. If you've read the novel, you'll know that, although it's contemporary, it's a vampire love story. My first of several :) I fell in love with the story's vampire Nevi. Shortly after that, I wrote "The Princess and the Vampire King" and I had a love affair with the vampire Jack... then I got a little bit of historical romance tossed in the mix when I traveled back in time to try to save my handsome vampire, Colin, from becoming a vampire in"For Love of a Vampire." All three were accepted by my publisher, with "The Vampire, the Handler, and Me" being the first to be published.
I'd had a few of my readers pre-order the book in print so they saw it before I did. The first thing they did was complain about the fact that the words were crammed on the page to the point they found it difficult to read. When I got my own copy, I was horrified at the inferior quality. This publisher was primarily an eBook publisher, but they did have quite a few books in print so I was surprised at this. I was also very unhappy with the pricing of both my print and eBook copy. The print was $25.99 and the eBook was $7.99. My heart ached at the thought of that publisher having the rights to do the same thing to my other two books as they had to this one so I began a campaign to get things corrected. By that time, I'd worked at a magazine and acquired some publishing experience so I wasn't completely ignorant during our correspondence. Either I made a valid argument or I was simply too big a pest, I'm not sure, but they surprised me by sending me a legal document relinquishing all rights to my work, including what they'd already published. Relieved that no more of my work would be butchered, I was also stunned at the realization that I was no longer with a publisher. [If any of you have ever tried to get work published, you know how difficult it is to have a publisher accept your work... let alone 3!]. After about a week of feeling sorry for myself, I decided that, rather than look for a new publisher, I'd become an indie publisher. I knew I could at least do as good as the one I just got my work back from. I'm pleased to say that my novels passed the Barnes and Noble shelf test. If you aren't aware of what that is... Since there is only so much room in the brick and mortar stores, the publisher is required to send the book to the Manhattan office to be inspected for cover quality, formatting, etc. If it meets their expectations, it is put in their computer as available for stocking on the shelves by the bookstores.-- I was able to put fewer words on a page and increase the page count of "The Vampire, The Handler, and Me"from194 pages to 281 pages while reducing the suggested retail price of the print book to $14.99 and the eBook to $3.99 (although for a period of time all of my novels are only $2.99 in eBook format !)
Being an indie publisher suits me. Not only do I retain the control of the quality of my work, but I'm able to release it at a much faster rate. This year (2017) alone, I've written and released a total of 6 novels.
Since my brain is always coming up with plots, I enjoy writing in various genre. Whether it is the correct thing to do or not, I've given myself genre author names to help keep the confusion down. I know that if I wasn't into paranormal and wanted historical romance, I'd rather not have to filter through what the author has written to find it. So, Eileen Sheehan lets her fantastic imagination go wild with fantasy/paranormal/thrillers. Ailene Frances writes historical romance. Lena Sheehan has a few self-help books out there and E.F. Sheehan penned one alternative tragedy.
I love to write and I love that people like you enjoy what I write. I will be watching this group's interaction to see what impact my novels have on you as well as to get ideas of what you might enjoy reading next, so please feel free to express, express, express.
