I am loving season 3! We are further into the story than I thought we would be but considering how much there is to come it's probably right. I personally don't care for the addition of (view spoiler)
Things ARE moving along pretty quickly -- in the book (view spoiler)Liked David Berry's portrayal of Lord John tho!
Put this in the wrong place early this evening.Very good episode tonight! Sad to see the end of Frank's storyline (still feel like he wasn't that bad a person everything considered). Amazing to see Ardsmuir (pleasantly surprised by the actor playing John Gray). Since the episode is nearly airing, I can post how happy I am that the produers let Murtagh survive. I hope this also means that Jamie and Claire will cross paths with him again in America (I'm a big Murtagh fan). I even remembered thinking as I read the books that I wished that Jamie had, had one of the men from his past near him (i.e. Murtagh, Rupert), while he didn't have Claire. All in all quite happy with this season so far.
I theorized ages ago that Murtagh might replace Duncan Iness in later seasons of the show. Based on his appearance in Ardsmuir and the lack of new characters there, it's looking like that's where this is going.
Wow! They did a brilliant job with this episode. Loved every minute.Poor Frank. It’s a shame Claire couldn’t have said those final words while he was still alive to hear them.
In the book, Claire said to Frank "I did love you. Once." during their big fight. Then he stormed out and had the fatal car crash. I'm not sure what she said after "I did love you" over his body in the series, but in the book it was "I did love you. Once. I did".
YES, YES, YES!!!!!! Murtagh is alive! I agree with Silverblades; I think he's going to have Duncan's role and they will meet up again in America. Murtagh is my 2nd favorite male (after Jamie of course), and I'm thrilled that he is alive. Also, the actor playing John Gray is excellent; he's just about how I pictured him in the books.
Problem with believing that he is going to have Duncan's role is that Duncan was not transported to the colonies and became part of Jamie's smuggling crew in Edinburgh and travels with Jamie and Claire to find Young Ian.
I like the fact that they kept Frank from having a serial infidelities and kept it to one women whom he could have a relationship. This is more in keeping with the Frank we have grown to love in the books. Although I believed he was unfaithful to Claire (in the books) I just could not see him bed hopping. I think once he knew that his relationship with Claire was not retrievable he looked for something that he could not find with Claire. The anchor for keeping him with Claire was Bree and in the 50s and 60s the mother almost always received custody of the children. Frank was not willing to risk this...Bree was the only child he would ever have. I did not like that he brought "SANDY" to his home. To me this was a step beyond...and although he believed that Claire and Bree would be gone when Sandy picked him up why take the chance....he could have walked to the corner and had her pick him up there.
Well maybe Murtagh will give the authorities the slip to try to find Jamie instead He is devoted to him after all, Murtagh seems like pretty resourceful guy
Teresa wrote: "Well maybe Murtagh will give the authorities the slip to try to find Jamie instead He is devoted to him after all, Murtagh seems like pretty resourceful guy"Problem ---this would make Murtagh a hunted escaped indentured and if captured he could he hung.
Mary wrote: "I like the fact that they kept Frank from having a serial infidelities and kept it to one women whom he e have grown to love in th..."could have a relationship. This is more in keeping with the Frank wI Actually believe that Frank was not faithful to Claire during the war and through out their marriage after she returned. It is mentioned in the books how Claire knew of MANY infidelities and seeing them at work parties etc. In the show that was implied also when Frank had said that he already saw the movies Claire mentioned. His affairs had been going on for quite awhile and I don't think that Sandy was the one and only other relationship he had during this time.
It was nice seeing Jamie smile after eating a piece of pheasant served by LJG. A glimmer of his old self.
If they follow the path of Duncan Iness with Murtagh, he will be taken with the others to be transported, but will grow too sick to be put on the boat. Duncan was left to fend for himself in Edinburgh where Jamie finds him starving on the streets after returning to Scotland from Helwater and gives him a smuggling job. I think that this is a perfectly reasonable outcome for Murtagh in the show. The one thing I'm not so sure of is that Murtagh will lose an arm.

Mary wrote: "I like the fact that they kept Frank from having a serial infidelities and kept it to one women whom he could have a relationship. To be fair, perhaps it is because he wouldn't divorce and most women with a brain would have given up on him after realizing this. Thus, many affairs.
Teresa wrote: "Silverblades wrote: "If they follow the path of Duncan Iness with Murtagh, he will be taken with the others to be transported, but will grow too sick to be put on the boat. Duncan was left to fend ..."Yes, I do. The story fits the version of him we have grown to love on the show.
In response to 'In the books Frank has had many affairs.' Actually that is up to your imagination. Both times I saw Diana Gabaldon speak live, she was asked about Frank having affairs and she never said 'yes, he has affairs' or 'no, he didn't have affairs'. It is up to you the reader to come to a conclusion as to whether he did or not. I believe he did, but nowhere in the books does it say that.
Merry wrote: "In response to 'In the books Frank has had many affairs.' Actually that is up to your imagination. Both times I saw Diana Gabaldon speak live, she was asked about Frank having affairs and she never..."No it did not but the producers of the series decided to make Frank have one mistress instead of making him a serial cheater. And the decided on the side of 20 years without true affection is beyond the pale....so they gave him someone he could have an affectionate relationship with....but it is clear that he is still in love with Claire and the fact that her last response to him is "that amount of time does not exist" ...you can see the look of defeat on his face because I think for Frank ...Claire was is true love...Sandy was a stand-in. He never states that he loves Sandy he says....he would like to spend the rest of his life with someone that loves him. Big difference. And as we know Claire does love him but that love is overwhelmed by the love she has for her soulmate...Jamie.
I too am loving this season. France was beautiful, but not for me!If Diana really did leave Frank's fidelity up to interpretation in the books like Merry states above, when reading I didn't think he had affairs before she went through the stones but many after. With many different women. That is just the feeling I got when reading. To each their own!
Murtaugh <3 I can easily see him falling ill again now that he doesn't have a doctor looking after him and following the storyline that Silverblades, Teresa, Mary, et al. have discussed above. HOORAY!
When Jamie is playing chess with LJG and says "Claire" for what looks like the first time in ages ::swoon:: OMG that was one of my favorite parts of the episode. Just that 1 word.
Claire looks fabulous in the 60s. I know I've said it before but jaw. on. floor.
**SPOILER**Great moment for Jamie saying "Claire" and the smile for the first time in sooo long for him. Very happy to see Murtaugh and hope he stays in the rest of the season and beyond. Touching to have him remember Claire when talking to Jamie. Reading the books (on book 5 but reread 1-4 twice) and that makes it even more hard to wait in anticipation of "Print Shop"! Maybe hard to watch tomorrow's episode at Helwater-Jamie with Geneva, even though I know why it happens. Oh, well! I thought I read somewhere that they will add in Jamie's narration or something as well as Claire's narration for the Print Shop. At what point, I don't know. That will be most interesting and different from the books--can't wait for that. :)

I broke down -- have the Starz app and was going to watch Ep4 'cause I'm so badly hooked, but it wasn't available so the wait will be agonizing

Agree, totally with you.
I found Ep 2 amazing, tears & all. But I must admit as wonderful an actor as Tobias is... by Ep 3, I'm over this depressing story line. So glad that part of the story is done & dusted.
Bring on the Jamie & Claire reunion & the incredible journey that transpires.
I just remembered a moment from book 3 that I really hope makes it into the show. I'm guessing that it will crop up in episode 8, if we are in fact to see the return of (view spoiler) (if you haven't read the book) which was one of my favorite moments in all of Voyager and the one I most want to see directly onscreen.

I think we are not finished with Tobias yet. Bree will have memories of her father growing up and Clair may have Frank memories also but it wont be too much. I love him as an actor!

Gosh I just tried my first *spoiler tag and think I did it incorrectly! Apologies!

I fixed it for you Nadia. You did it correct except you put the spaces in the tag and you have to do it with out spaces to get it to hide the spoiler.

I did wonder about the spaces. I went to your post in Ep 2 where you showed us.. and was thinking "Is there spaces there?" Hahaha, clearly not! Cheers.
