Tina | 5 comments I've been trying to get some reading in when I can...but I've been diligent to take some notes when I do. Some points that have resonated with me are:

---

The command the "be fruitful and multiply" was not given simply so parents would have look-alikes...rather it was given so that God would have look alikes —His nature, His character, His values, and His principles

* How simple and to the point is that!? We are to be working towards being God look-alikes as we teach our children to do the same. For me, this simplified the idea of my role as a parent and gave me motivation.

---

Praise is good, but children need encouragement even more. Encouragement is not tied to what they did or do...it's tied to who they are.

* Wow! Again, what a thought!?

---

Instructing your children in the Lord means spending time with them so they can see how you live out the gospel. Look for teachable moments.

* This is practical wisdom that I am able to implement which my children...it's so simple but it will have a profound impact. We do this to some level, but being mindful of it helps to apply it in a more effective manner.

---

Speak life into your children. Rephrase rebukes into encouragement.

---

Ok, that's all for now. #readon

Awesome feedback Tina! The "instruction" piece was huge for me too. I'm not as intentional as I want to be not realizing that the best instruction doesn't have to come from a formal devotional. Rather, incorporating wisdom into our everyday lives is what parenting on purpose is all about.
Great nuggets!
