The book that I read during the summer is called The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood. The novel takes place in 1945 with the death or suicide of a young girl named Lauren Chase. Years later , Her sister Iris Chase remembers all of her memories together with Lauren when they were children. But when Iris was 18 years old a man named Captain Chase (who owned a button factory in Canada and had given Iris and Lauren's father a job during the Great Depression) had arranged an engagement with Iris and Alex Griffen who is wealthy. After the sisters father died, Laura's behavior was very strange so she was admitted into a mental hospital and so she told Iris that Laura had an abortion after her husband Richard got her pregnant. so Laura killed herself by driving off a a bridge into the lake and so Iris decided to take revenge on him which ended up leaving him penniless and jobless and he also killed himself too. This novel was really an interesting book to read because its all about mystery, death and also curiosity hope you liked reading this review and decided to read this book.

I loved this book when I read it some time ago - can't remember all the details, but ..The main body of the story is narrated by Lauren's sister Iris, and later in life, when she is living alone, she has a handyman called Walter, whose wife has bought him a brand new pair of work gloves.
Because he's an old carmudgeon, set in his ways, he refuses to wear them, and Iris colludes with him as to how he might 'accidentally' forget to take them away with him.
The chapter about Walter is such a lovely stand-alone essay, and just one of many gems that this novel contains.
