Inspired by Mrs Dalloway and Judy Blume's Forever, Release is one day in the life of Adam Thorn, 17. It's a big day. Things go wrong. It's intense, and all the while, weirdness approaches...

Adam Thorn is having what will turn out to be the most unsettling, difficult day of his life, with relationships fracturing, a harrowing incident at work, and a showdown between this gay teen and his preacher father that changes everything. It's a day of confrontation, running, sex, love, heartbreak, and maybe, just maybe, hope. He won't come out of it unchanged. And all the while, lurking at the edges of the story, something extraordinary and unsettling is on a collision course.

RUN (view spoiler)[Man, Adam's parents are assholes, and Marty is not that much better, telling him that "it's not love because he's gay". I love it because those who always are poiting fingers at others are the ones that end up having some dirty secret (Marty having a kid out of wedlock, which for his religious parents, it's a bad thing. So, who is the girl in the woods? (hide spoiler)]

BECAUSE, PIZZAS (view spoiler)[Wade is such a disgusting pig, seriously. And poor Adam, his family sucks and his bff is leaving.
So, this Katherine story line... how does she connect with Adam? Her parts of the story are getting a bit boring. (hide spoiler)]

THE HOUSE UPON THE ROCK (view spoiler)[Adam's dad is such a piece of sh*t, I mean, seriously. Blaming him because that a-hole sexually harrassed him. I really like Linus, he's really sweet and patient with Adam. I hope Enzo falls off the face of the planet.
Katie/Queen's part of the story bore me so much.(view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

RELEASE (view spoiler)[I'm a bit confused, tbh. I don't get the point of Katherine's story. In a way, her story paralels with Adam, being free of something. But at the same time, I don't understand why it was there. I mean, she was the queen of what?
Also, Enzo's girlfriend looks like Adam, LOL talk about not being over someone.
I enjoyed the book, but I wished we had gotten a better clousure to Adam's story. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I love Patrick Ness and I've loved every book I've read of his so far. I plan on working my way through them all. Okay so this book has me hooked already. I have a feeling that the woman who's speaking now and again as well as Adam is the girl who died. Not sure why just a feeling. I'm also really enjoying Adam as a character.. now back to the book. (view spoiler)[ Well that's a twist. Oh god, she wasn't dead when he got rid of the body in the lake which means she wasn't strangled to death.. she was strangled and then she drown. If only he'd left her in the cabin or gone to get help she'd still be alive. But why is this intertwined with Adams story? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Wow oh wow.. I honestly don't know where to start... this books was amazing. One of the best books I've ever read. There are so many home truths in this. I love how the two fates, the spirit world and Adams, are intertwined. I love that he bought the rose for her when he wasn't even sure who he was buying it for. Who needed it. It's so difficult to just let things go sometimes. I'm a really bad person for holding on until my fingers bleed. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I agree I would have liked to see how things had happened with his family but maybe that's the point? Maybe the story is over because Adam learned to let go as did the Queen. Which does confuse me a little I'll be honest. (hide spoiler)]

23% (view spoiler)[ It's so nice to slip back into Ness' writing style, he's one of my favourite authors. I didn't know anything about this going in but I love the concept of a gay son living with strict Christian parents and the italicised sections are actually really intriguing, though I can't tell exactly what they're about yet. I can't wait to see Enzo and Linus in scenes to make a little more judgement on them and Adam's different feelings for them, but I already like Angela. (hide spoiler)]

51% (view spoiler)[ Wade is so horrible, I hope he gets some sort of punishment. I'm so sad Angela is leaving, what will Adam do? Enzo really wasn't fair to him at all, he can't all of a sudden decide he's not into it and just pretend he never was. The faun story is getting more interesting. (hide spoiler)]

78% (view spoiler)[ Adam told his father :o Go Adam! I'm glad his father heard what he needed to but I think that scene showed there is a little hope for some kind of positive relationship between them, if given time. Linus is my new fave and I want them to be together forever, their sex scene was the most intimate I have ever read in a book. Also, the Queen is rampaging in a prison and I am slightly confused. 100% (view spoiler)[ Loved it just as much as I always love his books. The ending was sweet and hopeful with Marty's support and Linus' love, the world is saved and Adam is finally over Enzo. As always, I can't wait for Ness' next book. (hide spoiler)]
