A flash of white light . . . and then . . . nothing. When sixteen-year-old Kyra Agnew wakes up behind a Dumpster at the Gas ’n’ Sip, she has no memory of how she got there. With a terrible headache and a major case of déjà vu, she heads home only to discover that five years have passed . . . yet she hasn’t aged a day.
Everything else about Kyra’s old life is different. Her parents are divorced, her boyfriend, Austin, is in college and dating her best friend, and her dad has changed from an uptight neat-freak to a drunken conspiracy theorist who blames her five-year disappearance on little green men.
Confused and lost, Kyra isn’t sure how to move forward unless she uncovers the truth. With Austin gone, she turns to Tyler, Austin’s annoying kid brother, who is now seventeen and who she has a sudden undeniable attraction to. As Tyler and Kyra retrace her steps from the fateful night of her disappearance, they discover strange phenomena that no one can explain, and they begin to wonder if Kyra’s father is not as crazy as he seems. There are others like her who have been taken . . . and returned. Kyra races to find an explanation and reclaim the life she once had, but what if the life she wants back is not her own?
LOL! Maybe we should read this one next... Oh the process of elimination.... ;)I can read this whenever you are ready - just let me know.
I started listening to this one on my way into work this morning and was able to get through Chap 1 & 2 (out of the 20 listed on audio). I'm enjoying Tavia Gilbert's narrating which is definitely a plus - as you know! (Loved her narrating in Jeanine Frosts 'Night Huntress' series.)
It won't give anything away to say she has just returned back to her life 5 years later - although it seems like only one night to her. I REALLY feel for her.... You can empathize how overwhelming it must be for her to take everything in and assimilate.
:) Let me know when you get to chapter 3 and I'll start reading again. It seems like one of those books you can fly right through if you're not careful. (Like The Eighth Guardian!)
Ok I've started! I'm up to the bit where she has gone to see Austin at his house, but it's not him it's his brother!
Yep you're right, gonna be a quick one lol
Liking the book, she's just met Austin again! But is isn't explaining anything about where she has been,, it's concentrating more on the Tyler thing!
Just starting ch5 - seems kind of weird she gets so much alone time. I would think people (like her parents) would be fawning all over her and wanting to make up for lost time. The mom seems so distant... I'm not a fan of mom so far..
My crazy family keeps coming by today - making reading hard! LOL! I'm going to be able to catch up tonight though :)
Ooh you are way past me, I've been out singing so will plug in and catch up, well try, it's 1.30am so I may just fall asleep and have to rewind it all again tomorrow lol. Will read your spoilers when I catch up a bit x
I know - pretty wild, right?! I'm not sure where you are now. I'm audio's chapter 17 - which would be officially chapter 16 in the book I think. (view spoiler)
I'm nearly finished it now, on 97% I think so should be finished by the afternoon. I'll let you catch up and then we can chat lol And yes you are right (view spoiler)
LOL!! Ha-Ha! I know - it seems like that would take some time to get past...especially since it was like just YESTERDAY to Kyra... I finished the book this morning! Course, I had to look to see where book two was and was so disappointed to see that they don't even have a cover for it... no ETA year of publishing it either... WTH?Are you done? I wasn't 100% sure...
