Gisela Hafezparast | 97 comments I've read "The Scarred Women" when it came out in German as I went to a book promotion in Munich where Jussi Adler-Olsen answered questions re this series. This is book 7 of what will be 10 books, which is clever because the most burning question of Assad's background will only become clear in book 9 or 10 with Karl's either in the book before or after, can't remember which way round. I have read the whole series and some are better then others, but the Scarred Women is definitely one of the better ones, although not the best. In this book, we find out why Rose is how she is and what had happened to her. All the books work on a multi-faceted way, there is a crime story (not sure if I buy the hypothesis for this one, but it is well written) and then "revelations" about some of the main characters. Always at least just enough to keep you waiting for the next book and in this one really heart-wrenching.

My review of When I Wake Up. Jessica Jarivi kept me going on who beat up Anna throughout most of the story one minute it was Pernilla the next it was Daniel the next it was Rolf the next it was Erik. She had me making my mind up before she had Anna find the incriminating evidence. As it turned out Anna had a full recovery. We won't give it away you must read this for yourself.

My review from The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye. The story was good, but I'm left with the feeling that it was just an imitation of what could be done as if Stieg might have written it. I think he did an injustice to the women in Blomkvist's life except for Salander. Erika Berger and Malin Frode were depicted as people who catered to Blomqvist's needs, not as individuals with their own. As usual, I think Blomqvist was in the book more than Lisbeth other than this I think it was enjoyable and worth the read.

My review of The Scarred Woman. This is Jussi Adler-Olsen's best book by far. It tells many stories but puts Rose's story into the mix and if you didn't like other books of Jussi's you will like this one. The woman is Scarred.

My review of The Devil's Wedding Ring. Even though I lived in northern Minnesota I liked this story the best of all . It was a faster paced book, everything happened much quicker, their were many characters choose from. Max Fjellanger and Tirill Vesterli were the main characters in the story with many other characters being red herrings. Each character had reasons to be caught up in the mystery of Knut Abrahamsen's supposed suicide. It took both main characters to work out the final outcome. Vidar kept it noir in that the main characters were not known to be together in the end. He can follow this up with another book. As for giving this book a rating I gave it 5 stars, it flowed well, had a history, and a mystery. I read it in one day which is not normal for me. I recommend this book highly.

Thanks Ken, I've added this to my ever growing list. It sounds like a very good story.

Personally I liked 1, 2 and 4 better as I thought the stories were better drawn out. However, Rose's story was really well described.

I agree to disagree, but what's it going to be when it's Assad's turn, sounds like he's next.

I hope so, I really want to know. It has to be said, it is a very clever mechanism to keep us reading.

Sue | 81 comments I enjoyed The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye. I was quite happy for Salander to take more of a back seat for once and def. did not miss the graphic sexual violence (justified in original books, given the author's intention). Found it difficult to put down! Currently reading Block 46, the war parts I'm finding tough.
