Despite Mickey claiming he didn't need to know whether his client was guilty or innocent, he was truly destroyed when he figured out Lisa was guilty. Why was he so impacted?

I think he convinced himself that Lisa was innocent and was surprised he could be so wrong.

He's never got over having a hand in letting his innocent client go to jail. This had to have had him second guessing his instincts.
