I'll just quickly introduce myself here.

My name is Serge, I'm the founder of Merchants Of Air (a webzine about music) and sole member of Misantronics (ambient project). I'm also the writer of "Cecilia's World", a novel about alternative music.
I'm a music addict, record collector, former goth & metal DJ, ambient, dark jazz, downtempo, doom metal fan, among others. I dislike dixieland music, most country, plenty of hip hop and dull pop music. I wore over 70 band shirts in a row for a video on a hot day.

I played everything, from Joy Division, The Cure and Siouxsie to Combichrist, Xotox and Fields Of The Nephilim, everything dark was good enough. In my metal years, I played everything from Black Sabbath to Emperor and from Poison to Machine Head. I discovered dark jazz in a record store, listening to Dale Cooper for the first time.

My name is Colin. This feed popped up in my emails today, out of the blue, so thought I would contribute.
I play violin with a local amateur orchestra and love it. I was a member of a string quartet, a great experience, but only on-and-off these days.
When younger, I played oboe in the Reserve Army Band here in Tasmania, but took up the violin when I left - and have not regretted the decision.
After being a fan of Crowded House, (early)Elton John, INXS, Alison Moyet, to name a few, but confess I am now in a 'classical stage' of life!

You could say music is in my DNA, with a great-great-great-grandfather having played the trumpet in John Sousa's band. I don't play trumpet, but I do sing and play guitar, and I tinker on the piano.
