Wᴀʀʟᴏᴄᴋs

Warlocks are known widely to be related to demons. They are half demon to be exact. Demons do not exist on the mortal plane of existence. In fact they can not. But demons can possess mortals. The first Warlock ever created was born when a demon possessed a pregnant woman while the child was being born. This gave the child a half demon physique. Of course, not all warlocks are born this way. They can be born of two parent warlocks. If a warlock has a child with any other species such as a human or a witch, then the child would be either a full blooded human or witch. No one knows why this happens, but it is suspected that if demon blood is diluted any more than half then it will be overpowered and cease to exist.

A common feature of warlocks is that they all bear some sort of demon mark that shows they are half demon (See the 'Information on Magic' topic). This mark is always on their right hand either on the palm, or the back of their hand. A warlock's magic is attached to that mark. Which means if a warlock loses their right hand, or the mark becomes damaged, then the warlock no longer has the power to do spells. They would have simply lost their ability to use magic and would be no better than a human.

Warlocks are also second place in the social hierarchy meaning they are typically your upper middle class Spellcasters.

Wizards, very opposite to Warlocks, are half angel. No one knows how the first Wizard came to be and it is highly theorized, but there is no conclusive evidence. Wizards, unlike Warlocks, can not have children with species other than their own. It just isn't possible for a wizard to have a child with someone who isn't a wizard. Once again, this is unknown as to why, but it is widely believed that this is because of their angel blood. It is Holy and can not be tainted by making half breeds between wizards and something else. Wizards falling in love with another species is considered to be a disgrace and a big no-no.

In order to use magic, wizards need some sort of conductor. This includes, but is not limited to rings, staffs, wands, canes, brooches, etc. However, at Elysium their are certain conductors that are not permitted. These are mostly weapons such as daggers and swords. But Elysium does not seem to have a problem with students who have such conductors.

Wizards are at the top of the spellcaster social hierarchy pyramid which means they are typically rich and very proud.

Witches were once considered a wild breed. But they are just like most spellcasters. One big difference it that a witch can be born from a human and witch, but at least one parent must be a witch. The only problem with humans and witches breeding is that there has never been a case where the mother of such a pairing had survived giving birth. This is because the baby absorbs their mother's life force in order to make up for the lack of two spellcasting parents. The effect of a Warlock and Witch pairing results in the same as a pairing of two witches. It is unknown how witches came to be, but it is speculated that the first witch was human and turned spellcaster by a demon.

Witches do not have the need for a conductor or a mark in order to cast magic, but they have other ways of expressing their magic. There are two types of witches, ocular witches, and regular witches. Ocular witches are rare. When they use magic, their eyes will momentarily glow as proof of the magic. Regular witches do not have glowing eyes, but unlike ocular witches, wizards, and warlocks, they must speak a spell. Ocular witches are rare and very powerful compared to their normal counterparts.

Witches are third place in spellcaster social hierarchy and are you lower middle class and poor.

Witchlights are a rather tricky subject in the spellcaster community. They are considered impure freaks of nature. Every spellcaster, whether Warlock, Witch, or Wizard, can only use one element of magic. Either Earth, Water, Fire, or Air. But Witchlights can use more than one. Whether they can use two elements, or all of the elements is dependent on the Witchlight themselves. Witchlights are born as either a Witch, Warlock, or Wizard and then they develop into a Witchlight once they can use more than one element. To tell a Witchlight from other spellcasters, look at their eyes. They have mismatched irises. One iris will be a normal color, while the other one will appear silver.

To use magic, Witchlights are the same as their heritage. If they are born from Warlocks, then they use magic from a mark. If they are born from Wizards, then they must have a conductor. If they are born from Witches, then they must speak a spell. A Witchlight can not have the ability to use ocular magic. It is impossible.

Witchlights are also at the bottom of the social hierarchy. They typically are either homeless from being kicked out of their homes, or they are at the same economic standing as their family if their family didn't kick them out.

Hᴜᴍᴀɴs

Humans are well, ordinary. They have no use of magic and typically go about their lives with no idea of the wonders that exist. Although there are some that do know. These people are typically children of warlocks, but do not have to be. The humans that know of the existence of magic are put into three groups. The first one being that they don't really believe what they saw, or they don't care about magic. The second group of humans is the humans that are very pro-spellcaster and believe them to either be equals or some sort of superior race that should be worshiped. The latter is reserved for mostly Satanic religious groups. And the last group is the Witchhunters. They have no need to distinguish between Warlock, Wizard, and Witch because they just want them dead regardless of what type of spellcaster they are. They're all the same when they're dead.

Humans are left out of Spellcaster social hierarchy and their social status is left to personal opinion. Most Wizards look down on Humans while Witches and warlocks tend to see them as equals.
