I find Blue Beetle intriguing and would love to see more explored with, interesting potentials psychologically and power wise.I was hyped up to see Jonah Hex but thought they did a poor job with that movie. So rushed and without enough substance.
Good choice, but which Beetle do you mean?I'd put Blue Beetle on my list too, but it'd be the Ted Kord version.
My kids have made me fans of the armored teen version, but I love that funky flying bug version.
Actually, any of the original Charlton heroes that DC bought and then twisted completely out of recognizability ( Captain Atom, Peacemaker etc) would make my list.
I thought (the current) Blue Beetle had a pretty good run on Batman: Brave and the Bold. It's nice to see a little diversity.
I don't know that the character qualifies, but Barbara Gordon. She is certainly not forgotten, but the level of fan love might be debatable... I say that because of the lack of Batgirl TPB, etc. She features in some Batman stories, but the books are listed as "Batman"...

I was more thinking of people's obscure favorites. Lesser know known characters that catch people interest.
Now, if you'd said Ace the Bathound...

Or Bat-Mite. Good question... hmm..

Well, I love the c-lister heroes. Always had a soft spot for them.Love Superman, but got equally excited when Rip Hunter got a showcase volume.
I figured it can't just be me. Somebody else had to be buying the trades on the Sea Devils or Brother Voodoo.
So, it got me wondering about other people's choices.
I guess I could have called it 'guilty pleasure heroes', but I've always hated that phrase.
I've never felt guilty about the cheesy stuff I like.
Bat-Mite was actually featured in Batman: Brave and the Bold. The final episode of that series was fantastic. Has anyone seen Krypto the Superdog? That was a fun series (to watch with kids) in 2005-2006. It actually guest-starred Ace the Bathound quite a bit. They ended up going up against the Joker's hyenas, as well as Catwoman's cat.
For me, there are a number of "Showcase presents" from the original run that introduced not only some of the most popular characters in the DC universe, but a few characters that had great premises but never caught on.The Space Ranger http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Showcase_Vol...
Cave Carson Adventures Inside Earth

So, Dick Grayson is now the Winter Soldier and Nick Fury fights aliens...?Because DC has no other spy heroes and Marvel has no characters ( with an upcoming movie) that protect Earth from aliens...?
Why do the big 2 just randomly stick characters in roles, rather than use the characters they own that already do that stuff.
Do none of the writers at DC and marvel own copies off those 'Who's Who' handbook series they both put out in the eighties?
They can borrow mini. I've still got nearly all the issues in a box somewhere.
I have those too Travis. All they have to do is go thru the Showcase presents issues and they can get about four right off the bat.
Speaking of forgotten:I've recently gotten a bit obsessed with DC and marvel's non-super hero stuff, especially their war and western comics/characters.
Attended a con panel featuring the woman who ran DC's romance/humor line in the 60's, so am curious about learning more about those.
what non-cape and power comics do you guys like?
Depends what genres you're interested in.Westerns: Weird Western, especially the early issues where it was more of an anthology
I think all they've reprinted in trades is the Jonah Hex stuff.
War: Haunted Tank and Enemy Ace are my favorites, but if you can find any reprints of the Jack Kirby Losers, they're really good too.
I'm curious on the Jonah Hex. I'm not a huge western fan but I like them if done well, and I remember the movie - it was too rushed to use it as a goal meter of how well I'd like the hero.
No problem.Always happy to talk about/recommend what I consider to be the good stuff out there.
Jonah Hex is DC's big western character, but has never been my favorite, but to get the other guys, you have to collect Hex, because 90% of them only appeared as back ups in his series.
The three Jonah Hex minis done by Lansdale and Truman are my favorites.

The ones you love, but everyone else goes 'Oh, him. He's okay, I guess'
MY list:
Hourman: not sure why, but he's always been a favorite. Maybe it's the limited power, or that few heroes have an all yellow outfit.
Space Cabbie: the ultimate cheesy sci-fi character. He's both amazingly goofy, but so much potential to do cool stories with.
Omac: one of my favorite Kirby DC creations, but no one seems to know what to do with him or be able to bring him back for very long.
