Its a slice of life book. One of the adventures is the protagonist and her two brothers trying to get a dog. Their parents are reluctant after their last pet a lizard dies because they kids neglected to get it insect food. Their father takes great care of his yard . He hates his neighbor who lets his lawn be overgrown with weeds. Said neighbor has a pool which is never used. The protagonist sneaks onto their neighbors house and finds their neighbor passed out on the ground. They flee before his wife comes to him and pours water on him to wake up.The school she goes requires all girls to wear dresses. She mainly hangs out with guys but she had two friends at school. She hated one girl who was always giggling and wearing the frilliest of dresses where it is so easy to look up. Her teacher wore a wig and ate cookies when no one was looking. She threw a boy who looked briefly up annoying girls dress into the principals office. The principal just talked for thirty minutes of his little league days and before sending the boy he told him its not polite to look up a girls dress. The book ends with protagonist taking care of her baby sister.
