Maya was hauled into a room. The doctor telling Josh to stay in the waiting room.

Josh started to argue but the nurse made it clear he wasn't allowed to follow Maya. He swore and say down in the waiting room.
"I swear if it leaves even one scar on her I will kill her father." He snaps quietly under his breath.

After several hours maya was finally down. She had a tube hooked in her mouth and different wires all over her arms for medicine an such.

Josh was finally able to visit her. He walked into the room and saw her sleeping. He walked over to her and took her hand. Josh watched her for a moment and knowing she was asleep then he kissed her. After a quick moment Josh pulled back. Josh waited patiently beside her then.

She didn't wake that night. But in the middle of the next day. She opened her eyes weakly and looked around. Pain... Pain... Her left eye was swollen closed and her lips was cut and her right cheek was bruised.

Josh had left late the night before and came early in the morning. He was sitting in the corner of the room. When he saw Maya move Josh stood.
"How you feeling?" He asks.

Maya blinked and winced slightly. She closed her eyes again and shook her head a Little

"I'm sorry I was too late." Josh fable says after a long period of silence.

Maya frowns deeper. "It... Wasn't your fault j...Josh." She whispered

Josh takes her hand and stroked her hair gently.
"Don't talk right now. You are in too much pain." Josh says.

Maya smiled weakly and placed her hand on his. Her eyes closing once more

Josh smiled and leaned back stroking her hair still.
"Sleep now." He says.

"Thank you." She whispered before slipping into a deep sleep

Josh sighed again.
"Your welcome." He says sadly. Seeing her asleep again.

After a week maya had basically fully recovered. Her left arm was in a cast but other the. That she was better.

Josh walked into the room the next week. He sits next to her.
"You feeling good?" He asks b

Maya nodded. "Yes. Much better." Although she really didn't want to go home

"That's good." Josh says smiling. He touched her forehead gently.

"Now I can go back to school." she smiled

"Yes. And can help me study too." He jokes.

Maya rolled her eyes and laughed. She leaned up and kissed him gently. Her heart fluttering... What was she doingnn

Josh kissed her back. Surprised she kissed him first. He brought his hand to her cheek. After a long moment he pulled back.
"That was great." He says b

Maya blushed. Her cheek a light pink. "Hehe.." She just giggled and looked away grinning like a fool. She then looked up. "Oh! Let's go!" She laughed and grabbed his hand pulling him along.

"Oh take your time " Josh says. He pulls her back gently. He slows her down. Josh smiles and kisses her quickly again.

Maya smiled and once she pulled away she giggled. "Josh!"

"Hmmm?" He asks her grinning. Josh looks at her and laughs.
"You seem ready to leave this place." He says.

"Just a little." She smiled.

"A little? Ok." he says laughing. Josh checks them out. Then they leave.
"Come on then!" He says b

Maya sighed. "I don't want to go back there.." She whispered.

"With your dad? Well the police still want to know the story. I told them nothing. It's your choice." Josh tells her.

Maya looked away. She was silent. "Josh..

"What?" He asks her. He wasn't sure why she was so upset now.

"I... I'm so stupid." She whispered.

"One you aren't stupid you are very very smart. And two why are you saying that?" She asks him curiously.

"I can't tell them!" Tears filled her eyes.

"Why not?" He asks her confused why she would want to live in that torture.

"B-because! I... I jut can't..." She whispered

Josh hugged her.
"Stop, just take a deep breath. Ok?" He asks her gently. He stroked her hair.

She nodded and leaned into his warmth. She didn't know what she was going to do..

Josh let her lean on him.
"If you don't want to tell them ok. But I think you should. Maya your living in fear. You shouldn't have to live through that. However I won't make you do anything." Josh tells her his voice soft.

"If I tell them I'll be an orphan..." She whispered.

"Is that any better then having a father who beats you everyday?" Josh asks confused but still not wanting to pressure her to tell the police the truth.

"They'll make me leave. I don't want to leave you." She whispered.

"Well I don't want you to get hurt anymore. I want you to be safe. And healthy. Not lying in the hospital bed." Josh tells her his voice soft.

"I don't want to leave you!" She whispered once agains. Tears filling her eyes.
