₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ Emma sighed, rubbing her neck as she looked down at the title she had written on the post-it in her hand. She always had the worst luck finding books unless they were at eye level with her. From what she could tell, the book she was looking for wasn't on the lower shelves or the ones she could actually see well. That could only mean it was somewhere on the shelf roughly two feet above her head. Craning her neck up and a little to the side, Emma tried to read the tunnels with out getting a stiff neck.

Morgan Jaxon walked into the library with his laptop hooked under his arm. Back at home his dad was going into one of his rampages again, going on and on about the whole lot of them in town. Sure, he finally understood witches were real, and they existed, but he found his father was just leaning over the brink of sanity. So, for now, the library seemed like the safest option for him, plus they had free wifi. What could be better? On his way over towards the couches he noticed a girl having trouble by the bookshelves. Not recognizing who she was he chuckled softly under his breath before approaching her. "Need help with anything?" He asked, doing his best to make his voice sound welcoming, although his words still came out with a hard edge.

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ Emma's head whipped around when she heard she was being addressed, any effort at keeping her neck intact completely forgotten as she felt a sharp twinge. Wincing a little, she looked to see who had spoken to her to see a vaguely familiar young man, around her age, standing a few feet away from her. She studied him for a moment. His tone didn't suggest that he actually wanted to help her, but he had asked, so she was going to answer. "I think I've got it under control." To be honest, help would probably be nice. Emma thought the lady at the circulation desk had lied to her, that the book she was looking for wasn't actually in the system.

Morgan He noticed her wince and his face softened for a fraction of a second, but just as soon as it happened she was okay. Judging by her response he could tell he came off in just the way he'd tried not to. This time it was his turn to wince. For a moment he let his eyes flicker up and down her face. "You look familiar." Jaxon said, never one to hold back his thoughts as he tried to think where exactly he might've run into her. Most of the time he kept to himself, so it couldn't be at some silly party or anything of the sort. Realizing he was dazing he quickly snapped back to attention. "You sure?" He questioned, always one to be persistent.

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ "You do to," Emma admitted. She couldn't quite place it, but she knew she had seen his face someplace before. Maybe they had seen each other around the library before. She came here at least once a week, dropping off one book and picking up another. She wouldn't be getting another book if she didn't find it, though. "Yeah, I'm just having some trouble finding a book. I'm sure it's hear somewhere, though," she replied, playing it off as if it weren't a big deal. It really shouldn't be, she had just recently gotten addicted to the biographies of emperors of ancient Rome and wanted to get her hands on another one.

message 7: by Morgan (new)

Morgan At her response he began to puzzle over it some more before it seemed to click in his brain. "Charlotte Reese's daughter?" Jaxon asked, recalling for a moment meeting her at a dinner their two parents had held over dinner. There hadn't been much conversing between the two beyond hello and goodbye, and for that reason he couldn't remember her name. "Do you have a title?" He asked. Letting his eyes rest on the shelf above her head he read through the title's there, scrunching his nose in distaste when he realized they were a bunch of old memoirs. He was a believer in preserving memories and facts, but he didn't understand why people would bother reading such things.

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ Emma stilled when he said her mother's name. Giving him a reappraising look, she couldn't quite put a name to his face but she remembered a rather quiet dinner party which they had both been forced to attend to. At least she had been forced to attend. If she remembered correctly, she was supposed to go to Denver with her friends to see a concert that night until her mother told her otherwise. Nodding slowly, she replied, "And you're Mr. Lancaster's son, right?" Emma didn't miss the expression on his face and she couldn't help but cross her arms defensively. "You got a problem with history?" she demanded, thrusting out her hand with the post-it to show him the title. She almost wanted him to find it, just to spite him.

Morgan Jaxon nodded slightly, pressing his lips together at the mention of his dad. "Yup." He said with a pause before continuing. "Names Jaxon." He told her matter-of-factly. For a second he wondered if it would be the polite thing to do by sticking his hand out for her to shake, but in the end he decided against it. His eyes widened at her sudden outburst before he shook his head with a small laugh. "No not at all." Looking at her notecard he absentmindedly scanned the shelves once more before spotting the book. Reaching over her he easily grabbed it before holding it out to her. "Working on a project or something? Or do you actually enjoy..." He paused looking down at the cover of the book, "Reading about the ancient Roman emperors?

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ "Emma," she replied brusquely. Her gaze followed his hand, envious that he could reach over and grab the books she had been looking for with such ease. She would have been looking for it for an hour and he had picked it up under ten seconds. Taking the book from him, Emma held it close to her. "School never gives you anything interesting to write reports about or do projects on." She never really got anything out of school. It could be the most interesting topic in the world, but the moment she was forced to learn about it, it immediately lost it's appeal. "I'm working my way through Tiberius now," she added.

message 11: by Morgan (new)

Morgan He grinned at her tone, "Emma." Jaxon said, glad he'd learned her name instead of having to ask for it. Handing the book to her he observed the way she held it to her, and pressed his lips together in an attempt not to laugh. "Oh, so you do find this interesting." He replied in an obviously teasing manner. He couldn't imagine putting so many hours into his life reading such boring things. To him it was either, watch the movie or ask google for the answers. When she continued he nodded his head as if to pretend he understood exactly what she was saying, when in all reality he was a bit lost.

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ ((I'll have to reply in the morning, I am so unbelievably tired right now that all I would give you is crap))

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ Emma shrugged. "Dead people are more interesting than the living," she replied simply. She liked them because she didn't have to try to figure them out. If she wanted to know about them, all she had to do was read. Even though Jaxon was nodding, Emma could clearly see the vacant look in his eyes. "You don't have any idea who I'm talking about, do you?" she asked, not exactly angry at him, but wanting to see if he would admit to having no clue who Tiberius was. If he was ignorant, that's fine. If he was arrogant, he could leave.

message 14: by Morgan (new)

Morgan "Is that so?" Jaxon asked, his tone conveying obvious amusement. Leaning against the shelf for a moment he looked back at her, "So, by that I'm guessing you really don't get out much?" At her question he realized he'd been too obvious. "Nope, no idea. Home schooled." He replied truthfully. His dad didn't believe in local schooling ever since moving here, and had instead chose to home school him. But learning from his dad was a complete failure. And what his dad didn't know so he was taking online classes, if only for the sake of his future and his high school diploma.

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ "Yeah. Today you don't see many people going to war for some statues or watching lions kill people for their own entertainment," Emma pointed out. "I get out plenty. I'm here, aren't I?" she asked jokingly. She did in fact get out quite a bit. Sometimes she needed to get away from her mom's ultra-positive bullshit. "You're home schooled? Shouldn't that mean you have more time on your hands to learn stuff?" she inquired, eyebrow raised. Emma hadn't met many people who were home schooled, so she didn't actually know what it was like. She entertained the thought of it though and decided she might like it, being able to teach herself things rather than having some half wit teacher lecture at her for 7 hours of her day.

message 16: by Morgan (new)

Morgan This was so unlike any sort of conversation Jaxon had ever had before, granted he tended to stay away from most people... but still. "Can't say I've seen any statues worth killing people lately." He said while readjusting his lap top under his arm. "Oh yes, 'cause the library is the new hot spot." He teased with a grin, splaying out a hand as if to make a point. The only other person that was there happened to be the receptionist, and he doubted she even wanted to be here. "How bout this, you and me, Friday night. History Museum. I can guarantee that's where the party will be at, and if your lucky I'll let you tell me all about those Roman Emperors that you've been reading about." Granted it wasn't the weirdest way to ask a girl out he still felt strange about it. Quickly he added. "As friends of course." Pausing at the mention of homeschooling he hesitated before adding. "Yeah. All my dad teaches me though goes in one ear and out the other. Sure there's more time, but there's really no motivation." He replied truthfully. In his free time he was either listening to his dad go on about witches, or studying for his online tests that he had to pass.

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ "Well, you came here for some reason, right?" she countered, the hint of a smile cast across her lips. Admittedly, the library wasn't the most popular place, but that was the reason she came here, to get away from people. Obviously, she wasn't doing too well with that, though. Emma hesitated before answering, taking in what he was proposing before slowly replying, "If it gives me a chance to properly educate you, I might just have to take you up on that." She was more than a little surprised that he would want to go to the museum with her, but he couldn't take it back now. She usually didn't need a reason to go to the museum. It was one of her favorite places in town.

message 18: by Morgan (new)

Morgan "Only to get away from people. It's quite a challenge in such a small town." He replied. As she hesitated he considered retracting his offer. He wouldn't want to make her feel uncomfortable, and he figured she had to be. About to open his mouth to say something he listened to her response before nodding his head. "Properly? I'm sure I could simply use the all capable google, but now that i have you to go with me, I guess i won't have to. Can I get your number?" Jaxon asked. Despite Eden being small he figured he wouldn't be running into her anytime before Friday, to make official plans, and he really wasn't a fan of wasting time finding people. Although, it was true he was good at tracking, people seemed to be a different story. As this crossed his mind he froze for a second before assessing Emma. Could she be a witch? Quickly he shook the thought off before reaching for his phone in his back pocket.

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ He was quite right about that. One thing she had noticed after first moving her from Colorado Springs was that where ever she went, she always felt like she was being watched. Apparently newcomers weren't particularly common and the native inhabitants were rather curious. She had been able to blend in over the years, but every once in a while, she felt like she had no privacy. "Google isn't exactly my idea of proper," she told him simply. "I suppose you can have it," she added as he asked for her number. Emma held out her hand expectantly for his phone. For a brief moment, she saw an odd expression pass across Jaxon's face, but it was gone before she could figure out what it was.

She closed her eyes, and then flicked them open again. "Bingo." She says with a smile on her face. She takes the book out of the shelve. She sat down at a table, and scanned it hoping it was the right book.

Darina walked into the library and her pale blue eyes scanned the room. The library wasn't too crowded, which was good. She hated humans. She liked to say that was because of how naive they were, but honestly she was somewhat afraid of them. After those hunters killed her parents she never knew who were hunters among the humans and who weren't. But she came here for a reason and was too proud to leave without getting what she wanted. She saw the book she needed and sat down at the table closest to her, which happened to be the same one some other girl was sitting at.

ღSoɴɢвιrdღ | 44 comments Willow peered up, and saw a girl sitting across from her. She quickly reverted her eyes back to her book not wanting to talk to anyone at the moment since she was hear for a reason. She took off her amulet to see if she could find any pictures of anything about it. "Hmm." She said out loud. She looked at the picture, and looked at her amulet. They looked the same, but she wasn't sure. "Maybe I should ask this girl?" She thought.

Darina's eyes scanned the page of the book she was reading, it was about the different uses of fire, and while it was not what she was looking for, she continued to read it for lack if anything more exciting to do with her time. She glanced up at the girl sitting across from her, who held some kind of amulet in her hand. The girl had a look of concentration on her face as she looked from the book in front of her to the necklace in the palm of her hand. Darina looked down once more at the book she was reading and flipped to the next page, still wondering what the girl seated across from her was doing.

ღSoɴɢвιrdღ | 44 comments Willow sighed, and put the amulet in her lap. She put her elbows on the table, and her hands on her face. "What are you trying to tell me this thing does!?" She mumbled. She was frustrated with her parents. She looked over at the girl's book. "Fire?" She thought. "Maybe she uses fire? No she couldn't could she?" She thought again. She wondered what the girl's powers where, but she had to figure out what this amulet was, and what it could do. Maybe it was a regular amulet. Maybe there wasn't anything special to it.

While Darina's eyes scanned her book, she wasn't really paying attention to what she was reading. Her mind was stuck on trying to figure what the girl in front of her was doing with that amulet she held in her hand. One of her greatest weaknesses was here curiosity, but since she didn't know this girl she figured it might be odd if she were to suddenly ask her what she was doing. Besides, this was a library, where people come for some peace and quiet, not to be bombarded with questions from strangers. Still, Darina's eyes peeked up every now and then, her mind going over all of the possibilities as to the meaning of the amulet.

ღSoɴɢвιrdღ | 44 comments Noticing the girl kept looking at her she sighed. "I might seem weird or well seem out of my mind." She said. "Oh hi, my name's Willow. Also do you know anything about this amulet?" She said. She placed the amulet on the table, and slid it across the table to the girl. Why was she seeming so easy to talk to? She didn't even know her or trust her. She glanced down at the book she was reading again. "What are you reading? If I might ask?" She asks.

Darina's eyes lifted when she heard the girl across from her speak. She glanced down at the amulet the girl was holding out, before looking back up. "I'm Darina, it's nice to meet you. Um, I can't say I know anything for sure about your amulet, but, uh, I can help you look," she said. She was somewhat surprised the girl aross from her decided to talk to her, but didn't mind considering it might sedate her curiosity. "Oh, I'm just reading about the uses of fire... I guess you could call me a fire bug?" Darina didn't know this person at all, so she definitely wasn't going to reveal that she was a warlock.

ღSoɴɢвιrdღ | 44 comments Willow smiled "Ok great thanks, and ooh fire it's very interesting isn't it?" She asked not revealing that she has a Grimoire on fire or that she was a witch. She was happy that maybe she made a friend, and that this girl was sweet enough to help her out. She passed the book to the girl, and held her amulet in her hand, but revealed it enough so the girl could look at it if she needed to.

"Haha, yeah, one might say that," Darina said to Willow. She took the book and flipped to the front, looking for an index of some sort. She wasn't the best with textbooks and research and what not, but she figured the index is always a great place to start. As she turned the pages, she asked Willow the question that was really making her brain itch. "May I ask you what this amulet is for exactly? Or maybe how you came by it, seeing that if you're researching it you must not know its exact use." She hoped that made sense, her brain was still focused on the task of looking through the book for something useful.

ღSoɴɢвιrdღ | 44 comments Willow's straightened her brow. "I'm not exactly sure what it does. You see my parents gave it to me before I came here they said it would keep me safe or something. I'm not exactly sure what it does." She said, and it was true. She remembered when her parents told her the amulet was in the family for generations, but why? She wanted to know what was so special about this piece of jewlery.

Darina nodded, remembering some of the family heirlooms she had that went back generations. Of course, none of hers had any special powers that she knew of. "That's kind of cool, it's like your own little guardian angel that you wear around your neck," she said. Of course a guardian angel might not help out Darina too much, when you consider the whole half-demon part of her. "Do you have any clues at all as to how we can figure this thing out? Maybe a certain time period or something?" It would be kind of hard to find out more on the amulet if they were going in blind, but still not completely impossible.

ღSoɴɢвιrdღ | 44 comments "Yea it is kinda cool, and umm my parents only told me it was old, and was past down from generation to generation." She said knowing that probably wouldn't help. She knew the color and what it looked like, but how was a book they didn't know much about going to maybe help? She was sure that she probably would never get the answers she wanted. But she hoped maybe she would.

"Huh, ok. That doesn't make things too easy, but I'm always up for a challenge," Darina said. She didn't know how much the two would be able to find out before they had to leave and the library closed for the night, but it never hurts to try. "Um, do you know any of the historical references? Like, hmm, where are your ancestors from? That seems like a good place to start." At this point Darina was really just thinking out loud. She had no clue where to start, so might as well start from the origin of the mysterious little amulet.

ღSoɴɢвιrdღ | 44 comments ((Oops I'm sorry I didn't see this my notifications never showed that this was posted.))

"Hmm my ancestors were originated from Sweden in 1864." She said hoping it might help them solve this little amulet mystery. "That's on both sides of the family." She added. Willow wasn't sure what this amulet had to do with her, but she would do anything to find out.

"Sweden, Sweden, Sweden," Darina repeated out loud as she flipped through the book hoping there would be some hint as to what this amulet thing really does. She searched through the book but couldn't seem to come up with anything amulet related. She sighed and closed the book, scooting across the table to Willow. "I can't seem to find anything, but please feel free to check," she told her. This was going to be very difficult.

ღSoɴɢвιrdღ | 44 comments Willow nodded, and looked through the book for herself. "Hmm maybe another book?" She asked. She wasn't sure, but maybe she could find a different book with something to do with her amulet.
