*some spoilers ahead.*The book is alright. Didnt enjoy the ending that much but youll see for yourself. The setting in Oslo with the snow and the winter its quite nice.
The killers backstory and motive seems hollow, also the revelation wasn't surprsing, won't say who he is but you'll probably find out before its revealed in the book.
Near the end its mentioned that Katrine Bratt is healing and will come back to join the police, like, seriously? she went insane and tried to kill and frame an innocent man (Arve seemed like a douche, but still, he was innocent).
lets see how the movie is.
also, whats up with the mould man?

I agree with almost everything you said. I enjoyed many things about the book, especially the creepy setting and the character of Harry Hole (though seriously, what is with that name).
But yeah, I predicted the identity of the killer from the very first moment they appeared in the story, and I spent the rest of the book just waiting to see if I was right. Maybe I've just read too many stories like these, but the plot felt very familiar. From the obvious red herring suspects to the eventual big reveal and final showdown, it all happened pretty much according to formula. Katrine Bratt's character arc was the one element that managed to surprise me.
The mold man is supposed to be some kind of metaphor, I think, for the darkness inside a person or something like that. I honestly wasn't sure, it was pretty out there for such an otherwise straightforward book.
Besides that, the story felt about 50-100 pages too long. There were some very non-essential moments sprinkled throughout. But as much as I've criticized it in this comment, I really did enjoy the book for the most part. It's a 6.5 out of 10 for me.
Oh, and I also found it hard to believe that Harry likes Slipknot...
