Noelle Wow! I had no idea state mandated sterilizations were a thing. This is why I love Historical Fiction so much. I'm constantly learning.

BUT.... I started this discussion because there was one part in the book that made me cringe the most. I wanted to get other people's thoughts on it.

The part where Jane went to try and get birth control from the first Dr. The creepy Dr who said her fiance was a lucky man. I can't get that out of my head. I feel like he sexually assaulted her almost. No?

I totally agree with you, just starting reading this book and was a grossed out at his "professionalism" and was applauded that he had to talk to the husband before issuing the pill...I'd have to guess that things went like that to an extent...we're lucky!

Noelle You're right, we are very lucky based off how far we've come in America. I hope you enjoy the rest of the book :) I really loved it.

Rebecca Hart I read this book last year and was also surprised to learn about mandated sterilizations. I enjoyed this book very much, however.
