Hey!! It's been a long time. How are you fellow readers??I'm starting SOMETHING WORTH SAVING. My GR friends gave high rates for this one. It is about a married couple with kids working on their marriage.

How was it? I'm good, but I think everyone has disappeared! lol

I think everyone is just hopeless and frustrated with books nowadays. The authors who once were great and could keep a good story are now getting into gray areas. I mean, it looks like every book out there is about the same thing. They lost inspiration. Lately, the best things about books are the cover, the blurb and the reviews (those are the "bestest". Lol), IMO. And also, I think the publicity. If you're not smart enough you get caught on that trap and end up reading a bad book. But still here I am on the hopes of something good.
Hey ladies! It's been a while. How are you both? I haven't seen Ami here in forever, btw.Personally, I haven't been into the new NA or contemporary books this year. If I'm not reading PNR/Fantasy or HR, I'd be picking up older stuff. :/

I'm the same as Fran and Rejane. I just got SO TIRED of all the contemporary tropes...so completely frustrated by them. I decided to go to a different genre and I read Throne of Glass series and have been in the biggest book funk EVER after reading it. I can't find anything I love remotely as much so I've just been re-reading all my old favorites. There has to be more good ones out there, right? It's so depressing how many lame books are out there right now. Oh and just in case you were tempted DO NOT READ Misadventures of a City Girl. So lame.
So the Throne of Glass series is good? I might try that! I know what you mean, I've been doing a lot of skimming when I read romances, they are all the same. I thought the audio to the royal series was fun, but it wasn't earth shattering. I've been under the weather, so I wanted something that didn't make me think too hard. haha.
Oh, man...I just looked at my challenge to remind myself of what I've read. Nothing to recommend. ugh. The best book I've read this year was The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. And I only gave it 4 stars.
Hi Jeanne! Yes! Throne of Glass is a really, REALLY good series. If you're into that genre, that is. For me, it's one of the most earth shattering series ever! Haha.Seriously though, what's up with these romances?! I looked at my challenge and the only new-ish stuff I enjoyed was Kristen Proby's Fusion series. And I gave the books only 4 stars too. :/
Hmm, I haven't read a Kristen proby book in a long time! I'll have to read the throne of glass series, I need something different! Hope all is well with you Fran! I miss chatting with you guys:)
I’m getting tired and frustrated with contemporaries as well. That’s why I’ve been reading more historicals. The best this year for me was Kennedy Ryan’s Grip series...I’m in a serious book funk after reading those books. And discovering Mia Asher has been amazing cause her books are phenomenal. Most of All You was good...it’s a sweet sort of read. Omg Jeanne I want to read that 7 husbands book too!

I thought the audio to the royal series..."Jean, if you have any interest in fantasy, like Fae, and love a bad a** heroine who doesn't take crap from anyone (she's an assasin when the series starts out) I think you'd really like it. I seriously love that series probably more than any I've ever read. It's like the perfect mix of story and romance too and so many amazing plot points. I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone. I'd suggest starting with the novellas (Assasin's Blade) and then moving on from there. There is still one more book that won't come out until next fall but seriously you should give it a shot and see what you think. I was communicating back and forth with Fran through the entire series, haha. It's so good. But beware because after you read them you might feel like every other book pales in comparison and go into a major book funk, lol! Even knowing all of that I'd still say give them a try!
Hey all!! How is everyone? I'm soon sorry. I've not read anything in ages. I have been stuck in Greys anatomy and the good wife. Lol! Got a bit bored now. MIght start reading again. Any recommendations?
She's alive!!! I missed you Ami! I just read a not this again Melanie Harlow if you want a rec for that!

I'm listening toWe Own Tonight on audio. Zachary Webber narrates it...swoon.

I'm bouncing between contemporary and historical.I just read "the year of the blond" but i'm a bit ambivalent about it.
Hm... I read this thread (albeit a month later), & I couldn't figure out if you all did a buddy read. Did you all read a book? And if so, which one? I haven't been able to read much this year, & when I have read, it's been mostly Fiction, Historical Fiction, Science-- mostly serious stuff. It's been such a terrible year for me, so my mind has been in a very serious space. (Jeanne, you know what happened to my Mom & me at the end of last year). Anyway, a few weeks ago, my Mom passed away from Endometrial Cancer-- it was very tragic. I'm still immersed in grief, but at the same time, I'm trying to get back into reading b/c it's what my Mom would want for me to do. She was an avid reader too, & she would hate it if I didn't meet my reading challenge goal this year... or if I just stopped doing buddy reads or enjoying books altogether. *sigh* It's just been so hard. My Mom was not only my best friend in this entire world, but she was also one of my favorite reading buddies. <3 Does anyone have any ideas for a new Buddy Read? As I mentioned before, I haven't read much New Adult this year. Like Jeanne, I did read the Royals series. I also read another book by Erin Watt, titled When It's Real, which, if I'm being honest, is actually really good & better-written than the Royals series.
