Written probably in the 70s or 80s. A book about a group of people living togather anaware to the fact that they were born mutilated after their parents were exposed to radiation when the us government did nuclear test. They are living togather in closed community unaware of the outside world until one day one of them finds a photo in the laundry with people that are completely symmetrical and try to find out where the photo came from and than find out about the outside world.

Hi David, we like your enthusiasm but need you to slow down on the bumping. It's okay to bump, but pace yourself, since the mods have to read every new post.
A good rule of thumb is take the Dow Jones Industrial Average and divide by the year you were born. Don't bump more than that many threads every 36 hours.

lol, and if you missed Lobstergirl's humour (that was GREAT LG. I loved it.) She was suggesting that you bump your thread up a tad more often than every 9.5 months. The usual bump period (except for us poor over worked mods) is 30 to 90 days.

Sorry about that, I'll be a lot more selective in the future.
This is not your book/story (so it is NOT linked), but is in the same theme/idea: "Mother and Child" by Joan D. VingeDifferences: colony world with inhabited moon, not closed community. Aliens. No radiation tests. Not certain symmetry is always off.
Could this be a short story? It sounds similar to one I searched here for a few years ago. "The Others" by J. Hunter Holly, in the anthology The Other Side of Tomorrow
Here's a previous thread where I gave additional details: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
