This is a small detail but did you notice that Harry used the Chief of Police's name (Marty) for the first time in the series? The character has never been assigned a name. Any guess as to why Connelly has never named him?

I never noticed that the Chief didn't have a first name until this book. Maybe the Chief will play a bigger role in the books now.

I’ve tried to capture his name since the first book! Keeping those character lists made that more obvious. His name was only included twice and only by first name and because Harry was trying to make a point.

I’d like to ask Connelly about this.

Interesting. I did notice Bosch's use of his first name and to me it indicates a certain connection and loyalty between them.

I thought so, too, especially after the book where Irving was forced out by the chief.
