The Palace of the Cursed discussion

So, a few people have (unfortunately) left this group. Which means that the characters that they've created are now wandering around ownerless. Post here if you want any of them!

Character 1:
Name: Max

Age: 18

Personality: headstrong, acts like someone raised in the military, stubborn,

Animal: Leopard (Panthera pardus)

History: After she was born her mother died, she was raised by her father until she was 14. Her father against tradition kept her a secret till his dying breath protected Max because he had heard stories of the blessed and believed in them ignoring all mention of them being cursed however after he died she went on the run avoiding those who sought to capture her learning to take care of herself, she enjoyed the freedom of taking care of herself and learning however one night she stupidly lowered her guard and was captured by the snatchers she was eighteen at the time and taken to the prison, now she seeks to find a way to escape, and once again be free.

Relationship: Single

Other: has mastered most forms of martial arts and weapon handling, she has all the abilities of a big cat, (in this case a black panther), as well as quite a bit of the strength and speed.

Character 2:
Name: Tazmin (Taz) Sardinia

Age: 16

Personality: Taz is a headstrong girl who seems to be somewhat innocent but can take care of herself. She has a wild and rebellious side that shows when she is angry or stressed. Sometimes it’s easier for her to party rather than face her problems. Taz is very sweet, sarcastic and funny once you get to know her.

Animal: Barn Owl (Tyto alba)

History: Tazmin was born to two loving and kind parents who would have been proud to call her their daughter had she not been cursed. She was immediately sent to the school after birth so the only she remembers of her parents is the fact that they gave her up and named her. She hates to think about what her life might of been like if she hadn’t been cursed. Although sometimes she finds her gifts to be quite useful. Taz just hates it when her gifts scare people away, for example her first major relationship happened to be with a guy. He knew she was born cursed but seemed not to care, Tazmin thought they were in love and they shared many things together. It was when she heard him making plans to sell to someone for her “Wretched gifts,” that she realize how foolish she’d been to trust a guard of the cursed.

Relationship: Single

Powers: Has wings that can be folded into her back when not flying, but that's about all her similarities to an owl except for the fact she has a great sense of hearing as most owls do for hunting. For example when flying 100 feet off the ground she can hear a heart beat from another being, not that she uses her hearing all that much.
She is also really smart which one could argue is a power but she doesn't know if it came from her curse or genetics. Another one of her senses that are heightened are her eyes, since owls are nocturnal she can see very well in the dark. She is given a serum so her sense are normal for the most part and her wings are never, ever unfolded.

Other: Is fluent in a couple different languages and knows how to fight with an assortment of different weapons as well her fists.

Character 3:
Name: Akira Lay Barnes

Age: 16

Personality: Akira is a girl who needs music in her life. She is also a girl who sticks gum on a wall or under a bed just to annoy people. She has a unique personality. She has that feisty, sarcastic personality that is blended together.

Animal: Dire Wolf (Canis dirus)

History: Akira was born into a wealthy family. She was sent away by her family for the simple features that gave her away as a cursed child,The ears and the tail, She knew why they had sent her away. It would be humiliating for a family to keep a cursed child. But it was the fact she never understood why she was cursed. Akira grew up keeping to herself letting her life walk right past her until she reached the day she would die. But it was taking to long on her standards. She later opened up and made friends and soon had a boyfriend who later broke her heart. Akira never really liked her life for she had gone through a stage of depression but soon over came it with the help of her friends.

Relationship: Single

Other: She is also a natural with a bo-staff. She can use many weapons but she prefers to stick with the staff.

Character 4:
Name: Josephine

Age:
15

Appearance:
Josephine has lightly tanned skin and gold-brown hair that curls slightly and frames her turquoise eyes.

Personality:
Josephine is friendly and kind, always looking out for others, but she angers easily. Very easy. She loves to laugh (it's a beautiful sound) and to make others laugh. She loves art and singing, but she'd never tell anyone.

Animal:
Jaguar (Panthera onca)

History:
Josephine was thrown out of her home at age two when she attacked a sibling that had taken her toy. She had lost control and scratched him, which alerted her parents, who hadn't liked her anyway and wished she was Cursed. Well, she was.

Relationship:
Single

Other:
Has elongated canines and retractable claws. Goes 'savage' when angry, unable to control her feelings. She tries to work on her anger issues but they are still formidable. Her mind just goes blank, set to auto-pilot, which is ATTACK. Not good.

Character 5:

Name:
Cayenne Sinclair

Age:
16

Personality:
Cayenne is clever and wisecracking, incredibly sarcastic and intelligent, but she has a heart of gold and is fiercely loyal.

Animal:
Red fox (Vulpes vulpes)

History:
Cayenne was born with ears from the start- big, fluffy, adorable fox ears. Her parents were horrified and made attempts to cover it with hats and ridiculous hairdos. Just a mutation, they reasoned. A freak of nature. Not Cursed, no. No. Until the tail formed at six years of age. That sealed the deal. Cayenne was carted off to the palace, screaming at the Snatchers. Quite the commotion.

Character 6:

Name:
Dallas Iscariot

Age:
17

Personality:
Dallas is street smart and clever, a prankster who likes getting in trouble. He loves breaking rules and never gets caught, putting the blame on someone else. He can fight to the death with words or physically and emerge victorious with nary a scratch. People tend to watch out for him- if you can't handle him, you better look out.

There is no pretense here. I happen to be genuinely self-absorbed and deeply shallow.

Animal:
Stoat (Mustela erminea)

History:
Nobody believed Dallas was Cursed, not that it mattered anyway. He grew up on the streets fending for himself. Snatchers often came around and took normal street kids to orphanages or worse, but Dallas always evaded them. One day, he was teasing some Snatchers when he... Squeaked. Embarrassingly. Suddenly he was off chasing rats in an alley, Snatchers forgotten. Until they caught him and hauled him off to the palace. He never caught the rat.

Other:
No animal parts, although his nose twitches in a stoat-like way when he's nervous.

Character 7:
Name:
Chrysor Mergalyn

Age:
16

Appearance:
Chrysor has dark eyes, dark skin, and dark hair. His wings are a deep brown.

Personality:
Chrysor is a bit socially awkward so he often remains quiet and brooding. He is very serious and doesn't talk much unless he gets to know someone, then he can be very friendly and helpful.

Animal:
Falcon (pick whichever species you'd like)

History:
At first Chrysor's parents believed he was normal. They loved him dearly, until the first feather grew on his back. Then another. Then another. Within a few months he had miniature wings and was floating around. His mother wanted to keep him hidden for as long as she could, but Chrysor's father threw him to the Snatchers as soon as he was out of Chrysor's mother's sight.

Character 8:

Name: Zander Hayden Moore
Age: 23

Appearance: Zander is a tall guy, standing about six foot three inches with a very muscular build. He has rough toffee colored skin (but suffers from vitiligo- meaning he has random patches of milky white skin in stark contrast) and toffee colored hair to almost a perfect match. His eyes are electric green and spaced too far apart. He has horrible eyesight and is almost always running into things, leaving him covered in various bruises and scratches. He has a strong nose and chin paired with a thin, tight mouth. A scar runs across his left cheekbone. Right beneath his rib cage he has a set of gills, allowing him to breath underwater.

Personality: Sometimes he is a social butterfly, talking to everyone and being as caring and passionate as he can be. Other times he is very abrasive, willing to lash out at anyone who simply breathes or looks at him the wrong way. With Zander, it is a gamble on which side of his personality you will get.

Animal: electric eel (Electrophorus electricus)

History: Zander cannot remember anything beyond his days in the palace. He was brought in very young, not even two days old. He has had a rough life with the others (those who may use their possesed abilities) tormenting him for not having such a luxury. He has never known the outside world, but is currently trying to do everything in his power to try and change that, even if it would ultimately result in his death.

Other: Zander would normally have the ability of the electric eel to produce crippling ammounts of electricity, but this was not acceptable to his captors.
He must wear a special metal cuff to neutralize this. It is seamless and has no method of removal beyond cutting off his own hand. Even though his ability has been neutralized he is still considered a very high risk prisoner, probably a good move on the authority's part.

Character 9:

Name: Olivia (Liv) Rose Vintaswill
Age: 16

Appearance: Liv has long pin straight brown hair that reaches just to the small of her back. She always keeps it down, using it as sort of a shield against the world and to cover the blue and green patch of scales that stretches from behind her left ear to the nape of her neck. Her skin is very fair and would surely burn if she were to stay out in direct sunlight longer than ten minutes. She has a small, strongly arched nose and high cheekbones. Her lips are slightly thinner than average and if she were to smile it would reveal prominent dimples in her cheeks. Her eyes are an abnormal yellowish green color that's usually reserved only for certain reptiles and house cats with slightly larger than usual pupils. Framing her unusual eyes are thick, dark lashes. Her eyebrows are thick and arch only slightly, but do so in a manner that compliments her otherwise odd looking collection of features. She is fairly short, standing at only five feet three inches. She is very thin and fragile looking with protruding collar bones and arms that some have compared to toothpicks.



Personality: Liv has never been anything but ordinary. She is not a subject of great beauty nor is she noticed for a sparkling personality. Because of this she is a loaner. She is a generally guarded person. She isn't able to trust easily and often finds it hard to bring herself to talk to new people. She is used to blending in to the background and drawing as little attention to herself as possible. She much prefers playing the part of a wallflower, seeing and hearing all, but speaking little.


Animal: Chameleon (pick any species of Chameleon you'd like. There are hundreds.)

History: For the first four years of Liv's life it was assumed she was a normal child. She developed and grew as a normal child, showing no signs of abnormalities. Just before her fifth birthday however, her eyes shifted from the bright new leaf green they had been to a yellowish green usually reserved for reptiles and house cats. A few weeks after that, a patch of blue and green scales started to appear, stretching from behind her left ear to the nape of her neck.
Her parents jumped at the chance to give her up, as they already had six other mouths to feed and she was nothing more than an useless middle child. In some ways Liv's confinement to the palace had probably been more desirable than what her life would have been otherwise.
Since her fifth year, Liv has spent her days in the confinement of the palace, keeping to herself and blending into the background as always. It's where she feels most comfortable.

Other: Others might think Liv got the short end of the stick when it came to being 'cursed' ,after all, what could a chameleon have to offer? Liv wouldn't want to have it any other way though, as her animal counterpart she is able to camouflage herself if needed to blend into her surroundings. It suits her personality quite fittingly.
