October toppler - Superheroes!
A few rules:1. Books must be started and finished in this time period to qualify.
2. You may read any format - paperback, hardcover, ebook, or audiobook. For the last two use the page numbers on the first edition that comes up on the GR page.
3. Each book must be at least 175 pages.
4. Each task may be completed multiple times by any team member and any book may be read by multiple team members. But, each book read can only be used to fill one task.
5. Being superhero challenge, I feel that it is fitting to allow graphic novels / manga. However, due to the limited amount of words on each page, these books will only be allowed if they have at least 450 pages.
Toppler books can count toward the monthly challenge, the group theme read, and/or the yearly challenge, if they qualify.
Scoring:
Scoring will be a little easier this time around. All books will be worth 10 points. Teams will get an additional 20 points for completing a section. There is no additional bonus for completing all of the sections, but you can get the 20 points every time you complete a section.

Exciting toppler! I'm not into superheroes and there are several I've never heard of, so I'm glad they all have set criteria. I think I'll go gopher for a bit tomorrow morning when bf watches the F1 race. I don't have that much reading time during toppler week so I'm going to see if I can find a couple of short books to fit the criteria.
I have the perfect book for the Harley Quinn. And it's one I've been waiting to read for a while now
Loooove It! This should keep me busy all week!☻There's a Justice League movie being released in November.
Already asked this question for the monthly challenge read but I can use the same book for a category here, so ....... Can I read a manga novel? It's a chunky one, with 523 pages.
Excited to have you join us, Margo! I almost messaged you for some help, Sarah! I thought you'd enjoy this one.
I should have groups posted tonight. :)

I'm asking about graphic / manga novels, because obviously there's less text than regular novels .... sometimes they are not allowed, sometimes they are depending on the number of pages.
Oops! Sorry, Lynn. I missed it. I will say yes since it is so chunky. I will say manga/GN over 450 pages will be accepted. I'll update the rules later.
Kristie wrote: "Oops! Sorry, Lynn. I missed it. I will say yes since it is so chunky. I will say manga/GN over 450 pages will be accepted. I'll update the rules later."Thanks :)
Kristie, I have a question about El Diablo - book cover has fire on it. Would a lit candle count as fire? Or would you prefer a full blaze?Examples:
Kristie wrote: "Those would all work, Lanelle. As long as you can see the flame, you are all set."Thank you.
Kristie wrote: "Oops! Sorry, Lynn. I missed it. I will say yes since it is so chunky. I will say manga/GN over 450 pages will be accepted. I'll update the rules later."Oh wow. I don't think I've seen a graphic novel that big. Most of mine I have to read are at about 250pp.
Good to know, I'll put my ones back.
What's your book, Lynn?
Yeah...I know that's a lot of pages for graphic novels, but I felt it only fair to be significantly longer because it's a team challenge and there's so much less to read per page. I didn't want one team racking up a bunch of points with just graphic novels and have the results skewed. I normally don't include them. I may do something different for an individual challenge at some point...hmmm...
Kristie wrote: "Yeah...I know that's a lot of pages for graphic novels, but I felt it only fair to be significantly longer because it's a team challenge and there's so much less to read per page. I didn't want one..."Completely understand :D

Orange: The Complete Collection, Vol. 2(Volume One is also over 500 pages)
Saar wrote: "Nice theme! Do I already need to say what team I choose?"No, you don't need to say anything, Saar. Kristie assigns us to our teams :)
Lynn wrote: "Orange: The Complete Collection, Vol. 2"Nice. A collection does make more sense. Will check it out.
Looks really good. I'm pleased to find Orange: The Complete Collection, Vol. 1 available at my city library.
How disastrous does a natural disaster need to be? Are we talking Vesuvius or can it be an epic blizzard? I have Rose in a Storm and haven't started it yet. I'd like to use it for X-men #2. If not it would also fit Avengers #7 or Justice League # 5.
I'm not sure if that one will fit. I'm thinking a natural disaster where many people die and some are left fighting for their lives. If it's something where the town is in real danger, I'll accept it. If it's just dealing with a storm, then no. If the blizzard just causes them to be stuck inside, even if they're ill or something, it's not quite enough. Originally, I was thinking of almost apocalyptic type novels with tidal waves and volcanoes and the like, but any natural disaster that puts a large number of people at risk would work. Hope that clarifies.
These are the books I was thinking of when I wrote that:
Kristie wrote: "I'm not sure if that one will fit. I'm thinking a natural disaster where many people die and some are left fighting for their lives. If it's something where the town is in real danger, I'll accept ..."Well, I'm glad I read this. I don't think my choice will qualify either. Will have to change that one.

Jannene wrote: "I tried to create a thread for team three. Apparently I don't know how to verify my email. :/"You shouldn't have to verify your email. You just go to the TBR Topplers folder, then click on new topic. You need to add a title for your thread and the first comment, then click post. It shouldn't ask you for anything else.
