Hi Libs, is it possible to get rid of the original cover? It is still the one that shows up on peoples read lists, or currently reading lists? Or at least replace it?

no it isn't (if it was once published)
You can only set the newer one as default, which you apparently have done already.
That's the purpose of the alternate cover edition, that people can shelf exactly the edition they own if they want to - so if they have the blue one they may want to shelf that to have their digital shelf matching their real collection no matter if the newer one may be nicer.

So, I'm sorry but is has to stay in the database.
