The original classic Friday the 13th would seem so appropriate given the day.Alternatively, Halloween 3 is an under-appreciated installment of the series.
And Trick ‘r Treat is a great Halloween based anthology movie.
So hard to choose!
I too LOVE Trick 'r Treat. It seems to be a cult classic, and rightfully so! Failing that, I think it's fair to say that Cabin in the Woods is a modern classic. Such an intelligent but loving send-up of the entire horror genre.
Since this is a "Friday the 13th" theme, what better than the original Friday the 13th movie? If we're going "Halloween" theme or if we do this again ON 10/31, then I say 1978 Halloween starring the original boogeyman himself, Michael Myers.....no doubt.
I'd never heard of trick r treat. Just had a quick look on IMDB and I am definitely up for this on Friday 13th.
TRICK R TREAT is amazing, actually- it has an old-school, scary fairy tale type of vibe, and plays out in vignettes- mini-films, really, and FEELS like an anthology, you know? --Jen from Quebec :0)
June wrote: "I'm going to be a glutton and suggest watching Trick r Treat and Halloween! ;)"I'm with June; Halloween presented a seminal moment in horror movie history, which untold others have tried to emulate; but Trick r Treat is a great Halloween movie, too. And, as Jennifer says, it really does capture that 'old school' feel.
I say let's double bubble! ;)
If this going to be a regular thing. Once a month, fortnight, a week,. would it not be easier to just vote for one film at a time.
It's all about demand. If people participate, we'll do it again. If not, we won't. Now, with that being said, I would love it if it became a regular thing.
I'm surprised It Follows hasn't been nominated. A great modern throwback to slasher films of the 80s and 90s. Trick r' Treat is also good.
What about fortnightly. I don't know how hard these things are to set up. i.e. polls, messages, voting etc
The overwhelming consensus was for these three movies, Friday the 13th, Trick R Treat, and Halloween. Since we have three weekends before Halloween, here's what we're going to do. We will watch all of them.
The schedule will be as follows:
Friday, October 13th - Friday the 13th (1980)
Friday, October 20th - Trick R Treat (2007)
Friday, October 27th - Halloween (1978)
I will set up each individual threads. You're free to go on there anytime and discuss the movies. To avoid spoilers, don't go on the thread until after you've watched the movie. If this turns out to be a hit, we'll continue with 4 more movies in November.

I think that's about 2am in my world, so I'll probably start without you! ;)
Latasha wrote: "I wouldn't mind it become a regular thing either."Once a month would work out well I reckon, Latasha.:)
Since I've been cursed with working friday nights and saturday morning so I probably won't be able to participate much, but it sounds like an awesome idea.
Just FYI, if you have access to the Syfy channel, the movie Trick 'r Treat is on this Tuesday 10/10 at 9:00pm central time, Wednesday 10/11 at 12:30pm central and Thursday 10/19 at 10:00pm central. Time to set the recorder!
I’ll set Trick or Treat to tape. I just checked and Friday the 13th is on the free video on demand (Grande Cable). I’ll be online watching with you guys at 7 Central!!!

Theoretically, you could start anytime you would like. The thread will remain open indefinitely. Also, I warn all of you, if you haven't watched the movies, to not go through the posts of the threads because there will be spoilers.

Tim, watch it when your schedule allows and then join in on the conversation. The thread will be up indefinitely.
