not sure if I have any fellow sufferers at this point
We have a gaggle of character lobbed into the book for reasons between padding and comic relief.
We have a big party where it becomes clear that Morduant and Cleveland are not going to be BFF any time soon.

If you have read any background you know that Capt. Cleveland is based on a Pirate of the time and place. We do begin to see some signs of him as a possible, gentleman pirate.

The Udaller and his daughters are not being as friendly as they might be, tho Our fair haired boy still, may have an ally in that camp.

A whale is badly abused to set up a soon to develop enmity.
O and there is a fair in a nearby city to be attended.
