I have about 20, but the problem is that I am buying books faster than I am reading them :D ; so I don't really have methods to decrease it.

I'm so embarrassed! I have tons of unread books!! I'm gonna try and do the random number generator and pick from there to lessen my tbr. :)
I have so many but I´m doing the July month challenge with the books on my to read shelf. I think it works really well.
I have 780 at the moment. (everything sorted onto my to-read shelf are ones I own - mostly physical books but also includes a few audiobooks and ebooks) Hah so not getting through all of these any time soon. But I'm trying to participate in more read-a-thons (4 this month alone) in order to keep me reading as much as possible every week. I have also lately been keeping my buying to a bare minimum, which helps.
I have a bit of a problem with buying books and not reading them. Right now it's probably nearing 200 physical copies of books, and I don't know how many on my Kindle. Oops!
I own about 20 unread books between my physical copies, but my real problem is that I mostly read books I get from my library, so I actually have the whole library as a potential tbr-pile, I haven't found ways to read more of them.. Oops
I have about 80+ at least (physical ones anyhow, I also have a bunch on my kindle). I'm honestly trying to put myself on a book buying ban until I get that number under 50 but I just really don't think that's going to happen :/

I too work 5 days a week so reading isn't always possible but as long as I read as much as I can, when I can, I don't get too bogged down by the number of unread books I own. Read-a-thons just give me the extra push during a given time period to read even just a few pages more than I usually would and their themes generally help me with the dreaded question of what to read next. :P
Just 6. I'm itching to buy more, but I stick to my goals of reading what I have. I create a list of 6 to 10 books that I must read in alphabetical order before I read more. Any book outside that list goes to the next one. So far I have been keeping up with what I read and buy.
To be honest, I have about 2400 books in my Kindle library that I haven't read (I keep track of the books I buy).
Nashly wrote: "oh my goodness 200? Do you ever look at your books after finishing one and saying "I have nothing to read?" lol that happens to me. That's when I end up buying more books."Haha, yes, that is me exactly! Or I get too excited to read another book I've heard about, and I have to go out and buy it immediately, ignoring all the other poor books on my shelf. Sad day.
I have around 50 books in my tbr pile. I'm currently in a book buying ban to try decrease this number. To keep me going on not buying books I always remember about the money I need to save and the books I haven't read, and the lost of interesting to reading some books that I have paid for them. Also I remember that might I'll move to another country next year and I can't take with me so many books and those books are going to be in my tbr pile until I come back, so again I remember about the money and the books that I don't have much interest to read anymore.
I currently have 15 books on my TBR shelf. (Soon to be 16 when a pre order arrives) I was actually doing really good at the start of last month, I was down to 5 unread books on my self, then my Birthday came around in the middle of June and as my birthday gift my OH took my on a book buying trip! and I ended up coming home with 14 books :O

I have so many to read books, I don't know where to start!
I own around 200-250-ish books and I think about half of those are unread. I think I counted them once, but I don't remember the exact result... And well... I like it this way. I like having a big library and books to choose from. :)
Of course, that's not even counting all the books on my Kobo.
I've got about 200. Every time I put myself on a book buying ban, I can stay on it for a few weeks until I'm in a second hand shop and there are a boat load of books I want for 99 cents each, I mean, come on, how can I pass that up?
I have about 30 unread books and I find it outrageous. Before I saw the unread books videos floating around BookTube, I felt terrible about my number. Then I saw people with over 200 unread books and felt good about myself. I still put myself on a book buying ban, I can only buy new releases. Since the beginning of May I have bought three books and I'm ecstatic about that.

(everything sorted onto my to-read shelf are ones I own) Hah so not getting through all of these any time soo..."Yup TBR stands for To Be Read and usually means books at least in the booktube community. A read-a-thon (RAT) is where a group of people all try to read as much as they can over a specific period of time (most often it is a week in length). Sometimes there is a theme involved where everyone is encouraged to only read books that fit into the theme for the length of the RAT while others let each participant read whatever they want. Depending on who is hosting the RAT it may also include giveaways, mini-challenges to complete along the way, twitter sprints, discussion boards, or other stuff to keep readers motivated.
Util a couple of months ago I was extremely worried about having a bigger TBR pile and such, but since I've came across the fact that I read about 10~12 books a month it kinda stopped being a bigger problem for me.The bigger problem is how much stress can make me buy stuff in general, not just books. So my wallet isn't a big fan of that.
I am really proud. I have gotten my TBR under control. now i only buy 3-4 books a month and read them all before i buy anymore. #success
books I personally own on my tbr shelf 200-300 at least but then there are so many in my parent's house because my mother studied litterature in different languages ^^ sooo many books :D
I have about 10, and only about 5 of them I actually want to read. They are mostly hand me downs. Yeah, I know most people have over 20 at least but I have no money for books so I just beg and scrounge to get any new books I want to read and then end up reading them right away.
I have maybe 5 physical unread books and about 150 unread ebooks on my phone :/ My problem is that I keep on re-reading my physical copies and ignoring the ebooks... Physical copies are so much more fun to read!
I have less than 10 unread books, I think. I've been buying a lot of books lately so... But some that I really can't wait to read are Throne of Glass and Scarlet, as well as Frostbite!
I have about 40 unread books. I usually go on book bans (which is really hard to do). The goal of the book bans I go through are not to diminish my whole TBR pile, but just to knock of 20-25 books. :) Besides isn't it nice having a huge pile of unread books? It's all about choices, right? :P
I have about 5 unread books, I try to read the books I have before I get new books. Having allot of books unread makes me nervous!
Stephen wrote: "Both my parents love reading, therefore I have decades worth of buying books around the house xD"I feel you.. everybody loves to read in my family, so if I were to count all of the books in my house I have thousands of them (3 generations of book lovers who don't like to get rid of books)
I have around 40 books on my shelf that are still waiting for me to read them but I'm trying to read as many of them as I can this summer. My problem is that I mostly want to read the books I don't have a physical copy so I read them as ebooks and books on my shelf don't even get the chance. However, I'm kind of a collector of ebooks so I have hundreds of ebooks that I haven't read too.
Basicly, I don't have a problem with buying physical books but with getting ebooks. Seriously, hundreds! That is a big number. And I still don't have all the books I want.
And that is not it. i recently got into audiobooks so I started collecting them too. Wonderful.

My father recently got my great grandfather's books, so there are even more now ^^
I own 56 Unread books. And I've kept that number down by imposing a strict book-buying ban several years ago. Although, I've been having trouble decreasing it since most of the books I read lately have came from the library. But still, my TBR list has been pretty stable at ~50 books for the past several years.
For some crazy reason I actually started making a list of all the books I own today... When I finish it I should be able to tell you all exactly how many unread books I have :)Maybe I'll even make a TBR jar after this... Though I don't mind having unread books at all.

I prefer have loads of books to read than none but a tbr jar could be fun :D

Stephen wrote: "Britta wrote: "For some crazy reason I actually started making a list of all the books I own today... When I finish it I should be able to tell you all exactly how many unread books I have :)Maybe..."
Exactly :) I love having all these books around me and having a lot of different books to choose from when I want something to read :)
Nevertheless, I do want to read all these books at some point, so maybe it'd help to read a few a month or something... hm.
I have more books on my tbr list than i do on my read list and it is the worst! I have a tbr jar and that helps a lot! I also don't help myself that i buy around three book to every book i read. Haha oh well i guess I'm probably no the only one!
Britta wrote: "Stephen wrote: "Britta wrote: "For some crazy reason I actually started making a list of all the books I own today... I promised myself no physical books for a year and I have around 15 that I really need to get into. I have to say it does save you a lot of money xD
I have about 50 unread books, most of them bought within these past two months lol. I go a little crazy when I'm done with a book buying ban! I'd love to get to the point where I don't buy any new books until I'm done with the ones I just purchased. That way I'm not neglecting any books or wasting money.

I have not counted, but I may have arround 15-20 books, and over 200 e-books. I really care about reading the physical ones though, because those are the ones I'm supposed to finish so I can get out of my book buying ban. I'm starting a readathon at the end of the week, and with winter vacations coming I hope to have them done really soon :)
