description

The Black Forest is a large forested mountain range in south-west Germany.

In the relatively inaccessible Black Forest, industrialization did not arrive until late. In winter, many farmers made wooden cuckoo clocks to supplement their income. The Baden State Government founded the first clockmaking school in 1850 to ensure that small artisans were given good training.

AUTUMN - Black Forest National Park

Let's take a tour of the beautiful Black Forest on it's German Clock Road.

Below you will find a list of the towns along the route.
You can read as many or as few as you want.
You can read one of each or focus on two or three.

No page limit. Re-reads are okay.

A quick explanation about Schönwald (cuckoo clocks were invented here in 1737) - read a book that spans time. I'm thinking of time travel or a story that covers several generations.

It's amazing how things can happen like that. I chose the Black Forest hoping we could see the trees in their beautiful Fall colors. Its turns out that most of the trees are pine trees. Oh well. *shrug*
