R:8 - Psychotic Pineapples
I'm terrible with names Aureolin page turners (Aureolin = yellow)
Sunglow reading addicts
lemon drop book nerds
yup I'm terrible
I'm not sure I have enough time to dedicate to being captain so if someone else would be happy to do it I'd be happy letting them :-)I like random names myself so I went to a team name generator...or rather a Rock Group Name generator and here are some of the results...
The Psychotic Pineapples
The Fabulous Reading Vultures
Ironic Ducks
The Hideous Coffins
The Freaky Metaphors
The Mercury Chicken Clowns
4 Sunny Dragonflies
I added a word to some of them to personalize it more. I kind of like the vultures one because vultures are, like, scavengers LOL.
Oh yeah, and I'm Christina. I'm from Iowa (CST zone). This is my first scavenger hunt and the rules seem a bit confusing but I'm sure I'll get a handle on them as we play.
I personally like The Psychotic Pineapples. I'm willing to be captain. I've created spreadsheet for the team. We just need to decide on team name. Here's the link for team spreadsheet:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/c...
Yellow Dragons
Lords of Might and Magic
Temporal Immortality
Awesome Reapers
Fire Bugs
Shockwave Sonics

The vultures is clever and I like the pineapple also. I'm game for any just can't wait to play. I'm happy with Angie being our fearless leader.

Yellow Dragons
are all the names I like. Can we have a vote for team name?
I'm leaning towards The Psychotic Pineapples but truly would be ok with whatever anyone else would like. Since this is my first time playing I'm still a bit confused as to How to play.
It's a lot if fun. I think it works best to try and get the same words as a group but that's my experience.
I personally try to get the hardest words out of the way first. Then move on to the easier words. I have done in the past where the group tries getting all the same words.

What are you confused about?
What are you confused about?
So an item is called on Friday from one of the 4 lists right? I have to read a book that has that word (let's say Fire) either in the title, on the cover or somewhere within the book. Once I read and review it I get one point for that item but I can get up to 3 additional points by having one item from each of the other lists also within the book, title or cover. Is this right?
If I read a book and collected a point for an item and that item is called a few weeks later I have to read another book to include that item but don't get a point for it because I already got my point right? So that book would only be worth up to 3 points (if I found one item from the other three lists in the book). Do I have that right? This is where I was getting confused. I still have to read a book to include the item called, I just need to make sure it isn't worthless by finding other items in it. Right?
Let's say in week 1 we do Fire Ruby Champagne and Skull. Three weeks later Skull is called. We have to do Skull again but we can claim one in each of the other lists. So max points for the week would be 3.Tomorrow you will see first hand and we will be here to help you.
If you have a kindle you can search books from the app/device.
I haven't had coffee so I hope I'm not confusing you more. Stayed up late to finish my current book so I can finish the other one I need to read and be ready for tomorrow.
I'll be giving our team name as The Psychotic Pineapples. Looking forward to starting the hunr tomorrow.
Me too. Last time I tried to make a spread sheet trying to pair my books up with words and failed terribly. This time around I have a sheet of paper with books I want to read.

you can also look up books/words with Amazon and Google
you can also look up books/words with Amazon and Google
I downloaded the kindle app to my pc. I can search all the books I have on it. You can also searching using your search function on the kindle. I thought you could search on amazon using the look inside option but all the books I keep finding don't have the search option. I think you can search google but I've never done that before.
When searching on Amazon you want to make sure you are not on the Kindle version of the book (you cannot search inside the Kindle version) you need to be on the paperback or hardcover version of the book.

These are my most difficult words for week #1.
Sorry ladies. I work swing shift which means I'm unavailable from noon until almost midnight. I checked some of the other teams and it looks like the both matching up our words or doing our own work just as well. It looks like everyone is doing their own thing which is fine with me. I'm new to this challenge so I'm just going the direction you all are leading me LOL.So, Lizz, the book you chose has the two items in it and is the list then what you'll be looking out for? Or are all those words also included in your book?
Angie...the same question for you....are all those words found in your book? I'm getting ready to look for my book now so I'm just curious.
Hi Christina! To answer your question. The words I have listed are all found in my book which are also the hardest words to find personally. I usually base my word list on how many mentions for the word in the book. For example~fire was listed 38 times.
OK found my book. Thank you all for telling me about Amazon for searching the book. When I searched on my kindle I had all kinds of problems because I have many books that weren't bought through amazon so things like x-ray didn't work plus many don't have covers because they are e-book galleys from NetGalley. Anyway, I'm not sure which words will give me fits because this is my first time playing and I'll probably learn more as we go along.

Review
I instantly liked Josie she’s a single mom who’s world revolves around giving her daughter the best life she can. She even pretends to be someone she’s not so that her daughter won’t be made fun of. She lives below her mother’s flat so she has support and a helping hand which I liked. Josie also has a best friend who happens to live in the rich luxury part of town Alyce who helps get her out of trouble and I loved her. The pair almost reminds me of Lucy and Ethel from I Love Lucy.
I’ve had Dying in Style on my TBR forever so when it works for this my reading challenges this week I jumped at the chance. This is my first book by Elaine Viets so I had no idea what to expect what I got was a pleasant surprise. The characters are easy to connect with memorable and I very much enjoyed all of them. Dying in Style is a fast paced cozy mystery that mixes in real life, romance and enough suspense to keep me on the edge of my seat. The story is well written it flows from start to finish and I found myself getting lost in Josie’s story and I can’t wait to read the rest of her series and see what happens next. I like that Dying in Style is my idea of a perfect read for a lazy afternoon. I can’t wait to see what trouble Josie and Alyce get into next.
