Hello Teammates!

Hi gang! I am so excited to see this game back. I've only played one round, but I loved it. So, I'm a newbie :)

First Round - July 11th

I would rather not be captain this round since this is my first time hosting this challenge and I'm not sure how things will go :)

I will try and think up some names.

Does anyone have a preference on how we choose our items for the week? Do we want to coordinate or just choose randomly?

Hi everyone. Back again for another great round. Due to travel for the first couple of weeks I won't be able to be captain. But willing to co captain if needed.

Will get back to you about names.

I like Alpha Blazers as well, Jennifer. I also really like Butterfly Fighters :)

I've never captained before, but I could give it a shot. However, if we have a team mate that is more familiar with the game and wouldn't mind doing it, that would probably be best. I'm not good captain material, but I'm great administrative support :)

I'm not sure if one way has a distinct advantage over the other one or not. I'm good either way.

If we do coordinate it, would we use something like www.random.org to choose the words each week? If so, I can take on that task.

I like the random.org idea.

I like the names Alpha Blazers or Butterfly Fighters.

I dont mind how we choose the items. My concern would be that if it is more structured it might take more time to find a book that will have all words chosen. In previous rounds it seemed that teams that choose their words also ended up at times reading the same book.

Will review word list again. There didnt seem to be any word that stood out as difficult to find,, last round there was a word ....can't remember what it was. ?...

Jennifer have you heard anything from Stacey? Should I email her? I'm just thinking in terms of our first round starting on Friday.

I know our team did very well last round with each member choosing their own set of words each week. I think as long as we have a spreadsheet showing who has found what, we can all see where we stand at any given time.

I'm fine either way. It's already Thursday though, and our first round starts tomorrow.

Shall I put a spreadsheet together for us?

That would be great if you could do that :)

I've created the spreadsheet, and the link was set in message #4. Please let me know if there is a problem connecting.

I just realized I will be out of town the weekend of August 2 and 3. I will be leaving town late afternoon on August 1.

I won't have computer access those two days, but will be back online bright and early Monday morning - August 4.

I'll have my book read, words and review posted for that week, so we should be okay there. I'll be able to check in before leaving on Friday, so I'll probably have my book chosen for the following week before leaving town.

For the spreadsheet, I will have everything updated (as much as possible) before I leave. Then will update again as soon as I return on Monday.

Will that work okay for everyone?

Here is my schedule for my vacation...

July 17th I leave but will have internet access till Sunday morning July 20....I will have that weeks book read and reviewed before I go dark!

I will be without internet from July 20 to 26 ...unless I can get off the island to the shore and be able to use my phone....Wont be able to pick book until the 26th

From July 26 to 29 will be traveling but hoping to have phone access...

After that I will have access...

So unless someone else wants to be the captain....jingles and I will share the job....hope this will work for our team.

Thanks for letting us know ahead of time your vacation schedules. I have to say I'm quite jealous. I'm not going on vacation this summer :(

Are we going to use random.org to coordinate our words or are we just going to pick the items ourselves to coordinate?

Stacey should be checking in soon then we can decide on a name.

I am good either way regarding the randomizer.....we could try it see if we like it....if not then switch to us just picking ourselves..

Hi everyone- I am so sorry I didn't know we had a thread! I kept checking the discusseion thread for it but did it from my phone and I didn't realize I could click on team green to get here. So, obviously, I'm a first timer here but can't wait to get started. Whatever you think is best to do is good with me. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Jennifer, how quickly can I post our words from random each week? Do I need to wait until after the official word & bonus has been called? Or would it be okay to post those at a different time? Would I be able to post them at say...between 8:00 - 8:30 each Friday morning?

With that said, would you all like for them to be posted at a different time?

Hello everyone and thanks for the welcome! I'm usually a quick learner;) so hopefully I'll catch on fast! And I will be sure to ask questions. Looking forward to tomorrow!

I checked out last challenge Round 7. jingles that's where we first met.....I was captain on that team and couldn't find anything other than to make sure everyone's books matched the page count and the words and just making sure the words/points match the main spreadsheet.

There was no posting or linking of reviews. Wonder if that is something we should do?

Thanks for the info, Rosina. I was thinking there was a separate thread where the team captains had to post review links for their team members, but I could be getting that confused with another group, so don't hold me to that.

I think it would be very helpful to have a separate post each week that has links to all our reviews.

I can verify page count, etc. as I update our spreadsheet.

What Rosina said is true. Captains only really need to make sure I don't make any mistakes on the main spreadsheet. It is not necessary to have a separate post with links to reviews unless you really want to :)

If we can all match them, great. If not, that's fine too. We've plenty of time to work on them in future rounds :)

Earlobe has been changed to ear. I just realized earlobe is impossible to find (I must have gone through 50 random books and couldn't find it even one time). So, I changed it for everyone :)

Okay, so here come the questions. First- why are there 3 words? I was referring to the example from last round and saw- item and bonus words, but then five things listed underneath. Is that because an item from all four categories plus the bonus word was found?

I found a book that has fire and earlobe in it but not flag- should I continue to look for all 3 or is it not that important this week?

Jingles forgot to list the word of the week (WOW) and the bonus word. They are...

Sparkle
Necklace (bonus)

You have to find Sparkle in your book and for an extra point you need to find Necklace.

The other three words are from the other three categories. If you cannot find flag then you need to choose another word from the "Holidays category" that you can find.

So, here are the words you need to find in your book this week...

Sparkle
Necklace
Fire
Ear
Flag (or something else from the holiday category)

The bonus words are only for the week they are announced. So, necklace can only be claimed this week.
