R:8 - Blue Belles
I'm fixing to take my boys to karate and will try to think of some names. Any volunteers for cap'n? I'm more than happy to do so if no one else wants to. If it all possible we need to coordinate our claimed items and always get the bonus if we want a shot at winning (I'm super competitive lol)
Ok these are a few:Sky high readers
Blue belles
Frigid b*#^!es
Blue Book Beasts
I'll try to think of some more those aren't the best lol.
I would rather not be captain. Not very good with names, but here goes:Royal Readers
Sapphire Scavengers
Cobalt Conquerors
I also like Blue Belles
Hi *waves*Jenne, I'm quite happy for you to be team captain. And I really like Blue Belles as well, although Cobalt Conquerors has a good punch to it.
Just so you guys know, I'm due to have a baby in anywhere between 3 - 5 weeks time. It isn't going to stop me reading (this is baby 2, so I am a lot more comfortable that I know what I am doing), but if I go quiet for a day or so, it's probably because I have just given birth. But, I'll have books with me at all times - never fear!
Congratulations Nancy!I was thinking of names last night too and I gave up. :) I really like Blue Belles & Sapphire Scavengers
Congrats Nancy! Do you know if you're having a boy or a girl?Looks like everyone likes blue belles, I'll let Jennifer know that's our name.
For strategy, if we coordinate our items each week that we're claiming it really works. Is there any items that any of you think are harder to find? If so we can all try to focus on them first. I like to each Friday post what I'm reading and list what all items the book has then if everyone does that, we can decide as a team what each of us should claim. Let me know if y'all would like to do it that way.
Jenne, yes - it is a girl this time which is lovely. It means I'll have one of each.About the only word so far I think might be tough is 'onyx' and perhaps some of the other gemstones (although they are often used in metaphors). I do like the idea of co-ordinating each week so we don't duplicate.
That's great! Congrats again!I'm gonna check with Jennifer if the gemstones are ok to use when described as colors. If so it'll make them easier to find :)
Ok checked with Jen, and gemstones can be the colors. I know I've seen onyx before describing eyes and skin. I'll get us a spreadsheet put together tomorrow.
When one of y'all get a second, check and see if the team's spreadsheet is viewable to you, if you don't mind :)Blue Belles Spreadsheet
I just checked out the Time Converter and Friday Noon Australia is Thursday 10pm for me. Not sure where everyone else is from but I'm usually in bed by then... lol
Sunshine wrote: "I just checked out the Time Converter and Friday Noon Australia is Thursday 10pm for me. Not sure where everyone else is from but I'm usually in bed by then... lol"I think you are getting challenges confused. This one is in the USA, noon EST, which is 3 hours before me in PST, so 9am Fri for me on the West Coast.
Blonde moment, I thought you were saying you're in Australia......That'll teach me to get online before I've had enough coffee!
OK so I can get all of the elements, heart, beer, egg, soldier, flag, candy, dinner, gift
skull, eyebrow, pupil, eyelash, jaw, tongue, ear(maybe), freckle, forehead
I can read The Lie by Helen Dunmore. It has sparkle but it also has earth, moustache and beer (so one from each). Unfortunately though, I don't think it has necklace (unless Google books is lying to me...)
Should I go for it, or should I see if I can find another book which also has the bonus word?
The bonuses are pretty important to get. If you can read something else, it'd be good. Don't want to put you out either :)
Ok - that didn't take too long. I can read Eucalyptus by Murray Bail.It has sparkle, necklace
It also has wind, dinner and moustache (I have asked in the main thread about the spelling, as we spell moustache differently in the UK and Australia, where this book is from)
The only thing I will need to get confirmation on is 'Sparkle' appears as the name of a street (Sparkle Street). If it is OK to use it in that context, then I'll go with it. I'll go and post that on the main thread as well...
Sounds good, I'll claim wind and dinner also. I don't have mustache but I have a new release coming out Tuesday that might. Mustache is going to be the toughest one I think.
So far I have not found both words in one book. But I haven't looked through too many yet. I have been trying to work while not feeling well today since my supervisor is gone and we are down to 2 people. Never fear, I always find one.I also was wondering about how to use sparkle. I found it as a verb in one book comparing something to sparkles like diamonds and as sparkle dust in another. Does any form of it work?
So it looks like I should make sure it also has wind, dinner.
Okay, I think I will read
as long as 'sparkle of a tear' will workIt has all the elements
It has all holidays except champagne and flag
It has all of head except pupil, eyelash, freckle
I am reading After Dark and found sparkle & necklace. Also fire, water, air, earth, wind, ocean, flame,
champagne, heart, egg, firework, soldier, present,
skull, eyebrow, tongue, jaw, ear, forehead
Can I just check, Jenne. Do we all need to claim the same words this week? So do we all need to read a book with the word and bonus as well as the same three additional words? So, if it helps, it has all of the elements. It doesn't have champagne, candy or fireworks but it has all of the other holiday words. It doesn't have eyebrow, eyelash or freckle but has all of the other Head words. I know moustache is tough which is why I was quite pleased with this book as it has it 9 times!
Also, when we post the book, do we have to say what page we find the words? Sorry about all the questions - newbie here!
Turtlecollector, I do hope you're feeling better...
It helps to claim the same if we can. It makes it a bit more of a chore but pays in the end (usually). When you have a hard one though like mustache claim it. I'm good using wind as our element, they're all pretty easy to find. Looks like we all have soldier, do y'all want to use soldier for our holiday since it's not in every book and we all 4 have it? If we do that we can all claim wind, sparkle, soldier, necklace. You and TC should both claim mustache and Sunshine and I can claim the same face item.I'll go find an old post from the last round so you can see what it looks like when you post your review and items.
Ok here's one of my reviews from last time:Mattress and fire

This was a super quirky read and I found myself lol'ing often throughout it. A good start to a series and I'll definitely be continuing with the series. The mc did get on my nerves a tad but the humor made up for it. The mystery element kept me turning the pages and the ending leaves you wanting book 2.

Sounds good to me - I'm glad you're leading Jenne. I think I am still a little confused, although I am sure it will all make sense very soon. Thanks also for the example, that really helps to know how to post it.
