Has anyone played before? This is my second time.

I am very interested in finding the words pertaining to the gemstones.. IMO, those are the most tricky to find.

What do you guys think ? Any specific words that look monstrous ?

Yup, the spreadsheet is fabulous!

I love this rounds words - very original with the elements and the genstones - should be challenging and will hopefully help me reduce the ever growing TBR!

From the books I've checked so far I only couldn't find Onyx and Mustache - and I'm more worried about mustache.

.. while I am worried about Onyx !

But I get what you are saying, Gea.. these seem to be amongst the toughest of the words that there are.

I would even add earlobe to the list, maybe not as tough to find.. but can be a pain !

Do we want to coordinate the items we pick each week? In the last round my team won by having random.org choose the other 3 items and then we all read the same ones each week :0)

If someone couldn't find one of the randomly picked words we all decided on an alternative and read that.

What do you think?

I saw that tactic in the one round I played and I liked it. It takes more work to find the right book but I think it pays out in the end.

I support the idea of random.org.
That way we all will be on the same page and end up covering all the items.

I think I read some western historicals that had men with mustache. That was actually quite weird to read as men in books usually don't have them :D

I'll have to see if I have any old westerns on my TBR for mustache.

I actually just found Mustache in a scavenger hunt. It was in The Shining, 70's and 80's were big with them!

Last round my team went on their own, so it we had words all over, but then it helped team members later on with finding books. We almost won, but a another team posted before us!
Especially if a word is called that was already claimed. The whole group didn't have to refund it, just a few.

Incase you all were wondering, this is where I got the name. This is Shy Violet from Rainbow Brite....I am an 80's baby...What can I say!

I just remembered that Luke Stark from Rock Chick series has them, so if I can't find another book I'll just re-read one of those - it's been too long since I've read them anyway

BTW, Gea, since we are confirmed on the group name and you as the captain, could you inform that accordingly in the main challenge thread, so that we get christened and you get annoited officially. Thanks ! :)

We have the main spreadsheet, but when I was co-captain last time I made a spreadsheet just for our group, to help keep track of out individual group as a whole. I don't know if you want to do that or not Gea.

It's best to have one for my own tracking, I just haven't gotten around to making it yet, but I plan to this evening or tomorrow morning :)

I certainly know how you function and I have high respect for that.

I have shared another challenge, interestingly a scavenger hunt itself, with Gea and Lauren, right here in TLC, and I have seen both of them perform amazingly well.

.. and these have been my only two team challenges so far.. so I definitely am in safe hands.. and I am glad to be a part of this team ! Thanks for having me ! :)

I am sure you have a way of checking out the Bonus Words, per person as well as we proceed.

So, we look at set.

There is now a link to your team's spreadsheet in post #2.

Apoorv, each week a random word will be called, and the bonus word. We can only claim the bonus word that week.
The word that is called, we have to find in order to get any points. We don't necessarily need to find the bonus, but every point counts. Since there are four of us, 2 of us need to claim it to get half a point, and all four of us to get a whole point.
Then we can pick any word in each category to claim. So we can claim one word in each category each week.
If the word called is one that we have already claimed, we have to reclaim it again.

Do we get a point for reclaiming the same word ?

If you already have the word and Point, and it gets called, you loose it, and can only gain it back if you reclaim it.
So it will still be one point, not two points.

Any questions just ask.
It can seem confusing at first, but once you have two or three rounds it, you would have figured it all out.

I know how you are, so I thought I would do some explaining before we start tomorrow. I noticed the other two are in different countries with different time zones, so not quite sure when they are on line.
Tomorrow morning they will announce the word and bonus word in the thread of Items called....and then the hunt is on!

THIS is why I love being in the same team as yours.. I truly know my questions will never go unanswered.

Word (Gemstones): Sparkle
Bonus: Necklace

Word (4 Elements): Rock
Word (Holidays): Champagne
Word (The Head): Pupil

Sparkle and Necklace are the items called for this week, and the randomizer choose Rock, Champagne and Pupil. If anyone has problems with the combination let me know and we can assign the other word if necessary.

I have a book with all the words but I'm sure it won't be a problem to find others if there are any problems.

Are we keeping our books secret? I don't mind sharing.
