This is for the first five chapters.
Before this book has anyone heard of Jaycee and her struggles?

I just got through the beginning of the book. This is one of those books you feel guilty for wanting to know what happened to this poor girl, but it's human nature for us to be curious. Jaycee doesn't hold back. She does an excellent job recounting what it was like for her and does her best to recall how she felt and what she was thinking at the time. Hearing how she was taken is so scary, thinking about how kids can disappear so quick and how she immediately wanted to know where her mom was. I don't ever want a child to have to feel that, it's so terrible. This is why I'm extra cautious with my kids, they should never have to feel alone. Carl, Jaycee's step dad wanted to push more independence on this 11 year old and we see how quickly that went wrong. Just one day simply walking to school and being in la-la land like most 11 year olds and her entire life was stolen. I'm dreadfully looking forward to the rest of this book.

Also, I had never heard of Jaycee before reading this book.
