Becky | 1 comments Even though the author's viewpoint differs a lot from my world view. I do find some real nuggets of truth. It also helps to see what kinds of things people are struggling with.

JMW (jennem) | 52 comments I’m having a hard time getting thru this book for some reason

Danielle | 2 comments I just started skimming for stories that I find interesting. The author is a little too rough for me.

Tracy Ballard (captainswife) | 4 comments I struggled with this one. After trying to get through it, I put it down after the fifth time. I really wanted to like it.

Danielle | 2 comments I made it through by skimming. She was just too crude for my taste. I'm interested about the discussion next week!

Lisa Hawkins (leesamahree) | 1 comments About 3/4 of the way through. While I can appreciate her directness and surely some really sound advice- I agree with Danielle, VERY crude (and I'm not that prudish myself!). Definitely a tougher read while I'm getting into the holiday spirit lol.

Sarah Piper (hope5980) | 22 comments I was very skeptical going into this book and probably would have never read It if not for book club. I saw a lot of negative reviews and people saying they couldn’t finish it because it was harsh and raucous. I cannot disagree with any of those comments.

However, I thought that was a really good book. Maybe because I can relate with a lot of Cheryl’s past (my mother died when I was in my early 20s and have a lot of the same feelings and regrets, I have no relationship with my father with some similar words exchanged, and I have had more than one bad relationship including an ex-husband but have also since found the love of my life) ... so I enjoyed her humor even if harsh. I enjoyed her insights. I enjoyed her bluntness and honestly and emotion.

I have no qualms for anyone that couldn’t finish it ... but I’d suggest you look past the rough language and slight vulgarity and try to look a little deeper. It’s worth it.

Kelsey I managed to finish the book just in time, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I found myself laughing and crying at different parts. For me, it highlighted that some people have similar issues to mine and that the most important thing is to keep going.

Such a great review, Sarah! I concur completely.

Alexia | 3 comments I loved it. Laughed. Cried. She is harsh, but some times the tough love is what one needs to get things moving.
