Welcome! No problem :) Hope you enjoy your stay here.
Kat wrote: "Could we do a book of the month thing and discuss it all together after the month is up, or something? Also, could we set up games in a few different threads?"What type of games would you like? Go ahead and make a thread if you want to. But only for games :) and only 3 games can be made :) Reading is better than games on goodreads :0
Hi everyone, I'm Nicki. I love fantasy, and any kind of speculative fiction. I'm a huge fan of Lord of the Rings, I'm a fangirl and a geek, just so y'all are warned ;)
Hey Nicki!! Welcome to the crazy!! BTW, if you ever need someone to fangirl with, I'm always available!! ;)
Hey Erudessa! I'll totally keep that in mind ;)Hey, Lydia! I have no idea what's going on so you may have to give me a brief virtual tour :P but your group looks fun.
Hello Everyone,I recognize a couple folks from other GR groups and glad to see the familiar names! My name is David Russell. I am both an avid reader and a fiction writer of short stories. I joined because the group size is appealing at the moment, and wanted to broaden my horizons too. I found you by reviewing the recently active groups category and going from there.
Kind Regards,
David Russell
Hello again,Nicki and Lydia, appreciate your notes!
December read? Right now I have a couple books to get through but will take a rain-check and join you for a January or February read. What discussion title will those be posted under?
In terms of reading, I tend to go for general fiction: e.g., historic, medical, tastefully written romance; I also like the 20th century biography on occasion, and a hint of sci-fi or fantasy. Thanks again!
David
Hello! I'm Gray Marie Cox, and I was invited to this group by Nicki. I'm a blogger, writer, and couch potato. I also like singing and art. My favorite genres are general fiction and science fiction.

Cool, thanks!
Couch potatoes forever!! XD

Hi guys I'm Abbie. I love most genres, not big on contemporary but if anyone has any good suggestions to sway that, i'm all ears!

I normally read Fantasy and Sci-Fi, story lines that can hook me from the get go and not be predicable is everything i look for haha
Hmm, for the Fantasy/Speculative fiction department I would heartily recommend Storm Siren by Mary Weber, Unblemished by Sara Ella, or Scarlet Moon by SD Grimm. All are varying levels of fantasy, but I enjoyed all of them.If you are looking to branch out into contemporary, I would recommend Janette Rallison who rights some hi-larious romantic comedies. They're YA and totally clean. If you want a series that takes place in present day, but is a little more action filled I would definitely recommend Gallagher Girls by Ally Carter (just keep in mind that Zach Goode is MY boyfriend so keep your hands off)
Storm Siren, Unblemished, and Scarlet Moon are technically christian too, at least they're written by christian authors and published by christian companies, but they're not at all preachy with only a few vague references to whatever god created the fantasy worlds.I'd say Scarlet Moon being probably the most Christian, then Unblemished which kind of has this whole good force versus evil force (Verity and Void), then Storm Siren
Erudessa wrote: "Welcome, Abbie! Contemporary.....hmm. Most of the Contemporary I read are Love Inspired Romance."Would you believe me if I said that I've never read a Love Inspired Romance??
I've read a ton of Love Inspired Suspense, and I know many of the authors who write Love Inspired Romance, but nope. Haven't read a single one.

Oh i believe you. And you're really not missing out on a lot. If you are going to however, I recommend Jillian Hart's McKaslin series (there are 4 different series) and Debra Clopton's Mule Hollow series.
Hi! My name is Maria, I’m 21 and from PA. I’m super glad I found this site because I’m in love with reading and am always seeking new book suggestions, or to even just discuss things I’ve read. I love just about any sort of fiction and poetry but I am always trying to broaden my horizons. I collect children’s books as well, as I am a hopeful future educator (and hopefully someday, a mother) and completely fascinated by literacy development. I study early childhood education and dance in college and am currently working for both my BA and BSED. I’m looking forward to digging deeper into all of this and hopefully gaining lots from all of you. :)

Hi, Im Abby, and I like to sing, write, and well, read, obviously! I like historical fiction, fiction, fantasy, poetry, history. Basically anything that I can get my hands on I read.
Hi! My name is Julie and I recently wrote (& self published) my first book - an historical mystery that is inspired by a true story. It ends with a cliffhanger and those who read my first book are anxiously waiting for the sequel. I'm looking for historical books - USA but preferable Midwest that take place 1900 to 1907. Anyone have any suggestions?Secrets by the Knoll
The closest I can remember to reading that takes place around that time is Glamorous Illusions by Lisa Tawn Bergren. It takes place in 1913, and while (and my memory may be a bit fuzzy on this) the heroine does live somewhere in the American Midwest the majority of the time is spent touring through Europe. But yup, that's all I can come up with at the present moment.
