I just read a Kate Crackernuts story online and I am awaiting the arrival of the edition by Katherine Briggs which appears to be different. I look forward to comparing them. Which version are others reading?
It's been a long since I read Kate Crackernuts. I'd forgotten about Kate's sister getting a sheeps head! I only remembered the part about Kate rescuing the prince.
This is one of my favourite fairy tales. I just love how the stepsisters get along and even save each other instead of trying to kill each other like in other fairy tales.
My Kate Crackernuts by Katherine Briggs has arrived. All 224 pages of it! I look forward to reading her much-expanded telling of the tale.
Kate Crackernuts by Katharine Mary Briggs I will have to check out this one! I only read the one on the Surlalune site and a few years back on in one of Maria Tatars collections.
