Annette | 271 comments I just read a Kate Crackernuts story online and I am awaiting the arrival of the edition by Katherine Briggs which appears to be different. I look forward to comparing them. Which version are others reading?

It's been a long since I read Kate Crackernuts. I'd forgotten about Kate's sister getting a sheeps head! I only remembered the part about Kate rescuing the prince.

Polly | 19 comments This is one of my favourite fairy tales. I just love how the stepsisters get along and even save each other instead of trying to kill each other like in other fairy tales.

Annette | 271 comments My Kate Crackernuts by Katherine Briggs has arrived. All 224 pages of it! I look forward to reading her much-expanded telling of the tale.

Kate Crackernuts by Katharine Mary Briggs I will have to check out this one! I only read the one on the Surlalune site and a few years back on in one of Maria Tatars collections.

Katy (kathy_h) | 888 comments That is the version I read a while back. I thought it was a nice retelling of the story.

Mary Catelli | 1155 comments It's a wonderful tale.

Though I think I approve of how Jacobs gave the stepsisters different names.

Annette | 271 comments I am still reading Katherine Briggs’ version! The story is much expanded, quite detailed, and in a smaller font so I’m finding it a bit slow going.
