It's like three minutes early but I am going to start it now, because I just got home from work and shoved half a burrito in my face and now I'm in go go go! mode. Or, er, Hi!
Oh wait, professionalism. So. Hello! I'm R. Cooper, author of Wicklow's Odyssey and also some books about fairies and werewolves, and I'm here to answer questions for the next three hours. Woo hoo! Also, before I forget, there is coupon code for 25% off my books today and tomorrow at the DSP website. The code (case sensitive) is Cooper0712
Use it wisely. :)
Stella wrote: "Hey R! I want a burrito too!!!"Burritos are the single greatest food known to man... next to nachos. Nachos are also amazing. If someone knows a story about two guys who fall in love around or in a food truck selling nachos or burritos, I will read it and love it.
As an Australian, I am generally aware of US civil war history (in a I-have- taught-it-to-yr-9s kind of way). You have slightly altered the history in this universe yeah?

I made my first one last week and it was really good!
Jen wrote: "Hi! The burrito sounds good. Now I'm hungry."heh Sorry to everyone now craving burritos. Well, sorry/not sorry because they are so good.
R. wrote: "Ashley wrote: "Hi. :3"welcome!"
:D I have been welcomed! (I randomly started happy dancing in the living room and my mom is laughing at me. Family love.)

It's ok. I just didn't realize how hungry I was before you mentioned food.

The only differences are that the new technology has changed the way some of the battles were fought and left them in a position of kind of a bloody standoff.
(A lot of historians consider the US Civil War a precursor to 'modern' warfare, only, just like with WWI, the armies weren't prepared for it. And I found that interesting. Although ultimately I didn't focus on any battles.)
Sula wrote: "Hi R :) look forwarding to reading your new book"Well thank you! I hope seductive dandies are your thing. :)
I just had hand surgery and thought I knew what I missed most until you mentioned the burrito! Two more weeks until I can have one. I think I'll cry now. :)

Now I'm grinning. heeee
I have just hit chapter 8 and I can't imagine who the traitor is. And actually I don't want any of them to be IT. Gah.
Andrea wrote: "I just had hand surgery and thought I knew what I missed most until you mentioned the burrito! Two more weeks until I can have one. I think I'll cry now. :)"Aw! I've been there. The waiting to eat normal food again is the worst. :(
Rhoades is certainly a seducer. I love all his references to Greek mythology. What are you trying to create with this character?

Hurray!
Pjm12 wrote: "I have just hit chapter 8 and I can't imagine who the traitor is. And actually I don't want any of them to be IT. Gah."Hmm this. This is the reason I can't really write anything too dark. It hurts me too much. I always want to writing something angsty and soul twisting and then I get emotional when I think about it and I can't. Total wimp.
Pjm12 wrote: "I have just hit chapter 8 and I can't imagine who the traitor is. And actually I don't want any of them to be IT. Gah."Gosh, I remember that pain. I won't say more, as I tend to rant and spoil, but I was so happy when I was wrong on who the traitor was.

Thanks for being wimpy. I am barely coping with Wicklow's protective angst as it is... And Pilar is such an original character too... I have enjoyed discovering her backstory.
I'm actually more of a taco gal myself...guess I'm a purist. Out of town for a dreaded wedding, but at least the lobby has WiFi....
Pjm12 wrote: "Rhoades is certainly a seducer. I love all his references to Greek mythology. What are you trying to create with this character?"To be honest, I don't remember exactly how or why I decided Rhoades should be the way he is. I originally wanted this to be a short story for DSP's steampunk anthology (once again I went a little long) and I was thinking about the perception of dandies/effete/effeminate men in general, and I thought, I should write one isn't harmless at all. Someone who seems interested only in sex or clothes or comfort, (and who is interested in those things don't get me wrong) but who is also a tactician. Someone capable of being completely ruthless, without ever getting his gloves dirty.
Anna wrote: "Just joining the chat. That's funny, I ate a burrito for lunch, topped with guacamole!"mmm guacamole! You know, if everyone were to get bored or something and leave this chat right now, I would still be so delighted at how excited everyone gets for burritos. :)

Sounds really good!
Koozebane wrote: "I'm actually more of a taco gal myself...guess I'm a purist. Out of town for a dreaded wedding, but at least the lobby has WiFi...."mmm would never say no to a taco either.
Seriously. Now I really want a story about two guys falling in love around a food truck that serves amazing tacos and burritos.

Wicklow would save the world if he could. And yet if you asked him before he did it, he would insist he had no interest in saving the world, he had his own neck to look after.
Gaaahh now I just wanna ruffle his hair.

Well I enjoyed the stories of Scarlet Pimpernel, who played a dandy but used it as a cover and was often overlooked
Andrea wrote: "Any more dragon or fairy books in the works? The Beings in Love series is fantastic."On the note of Beings in Love, I was wondering if the snippet about the egg was going to be expanded? All the questions, all at once. >:D

hahaha oh god. I would make that the crackiest version of Will and Charlie ever. Charlie and his sisters run a gourmet food truck and Will is the drunk hot guy who flirts with Charlie over tacos every Friday night.

I'd love it!!!!
OMG! Yes more Dragon stories. I loved "A Boy and His Dragon".Funny that, I'm doing 3 things at once. Watching World Cup, Rating my book shelf on GoodReads, and this chat!
This chat has been great so far.
Andrea wrote: "Any more dragon or fairy books in the works? The Beings in Love series is fantastic."OH YES.
Okay, the lowdown with me and the Beings is, a long time ago I wrote a few short stories in that universe (involving an imp, and a firebird, and a fairy, and a certain dragon we all know) and then didn't know what to do with them. Now I'm thinking I should write some more and maybe DSP would take it as an anthology.
Then a while later I started a werewolf story about the world's scrawniest werewolf (named Little Wolf. He is not amused.) but that story... GREW. I took a break from it, went back to it, and just finished it.
Ahem. Then I decided it needed another story set in the same town as Little Wolf, but shortly before his story takes place, to help things make sense.
I finished that one (titled: A Beginner's Guide to Wooing Your Mate) and submitted it to DSP. I'm waiting on their acceptance, and then I will submit Little Wolf too.
And then I will get back to the short stories. And Tulip.
Did I mention Tulip yet?
