My Baby Bird
She had the voice
Of a magpie,
The Australian type.
And just like the bird,
It was most beautiful
When we were camping
Under the stars
She had the beauty
Of a swan,
With her mother’s eyes
And my cunning smile
So beautiful,
And yet I was the only one
Who truly appreciated it.
She had the gusto
Of a gander,
Defending what she loved
Be it crayons
Or graham crackers
Or if I was lucky,
Even me.
She had the wisdom
Of an owl,
Not in school - too young for that.
But where it really counted.
The wisdom to seize life
In her talons,
And never let go.
So it could only make sense
That she would one day end up
As the baby bird who fails to fly.
The baby bird
Who never sees the ground coming
Just as my baby bird
Never saw the car.
ehh..yea sorry im with holly on that one. i fail at poetry. but im a good judge! =)

I feel myself shaking
I feel myself breaking
The wind around me
Is shattering my walls
I feel this earth moving
I feel the beginning
Of something I’ve never felt before
The breeze carries away our words
But they remain engraved in my mind
The feelings I had soar away with the birds
Imagine a life lived between you and me
Could we have ever been able to see?
That these oceans would open up and swallow us whole?
That our future was as black as the darkest coal
I try to imagine a life between me and you
I try to see us soaring together like birds
As I look at you I realize you had no clue
Those were nothing more than just words

I'm not sure if I like my poem xD

White dove take flight, into the night,
Sing your frightful tune,
Fly across the full quarter moon,
Soon daybreak will cast her rays,
Soon darkness will fade away.
Take flight, I say!
And till day casts her frightful rays!
White dove take flight, into the night,
Sing you frightful tune, fly through moonlight,
Through her ghostly brightness!
White dove take flight, into the night!
Sing you frightful tune!
Take wing tonight! Fly through deathly air!
Through nipping winds, kind to none she sings a bitter tune,
Litter the streets, with feathers of snow!
White as the sun is bright, darkest in the moonlight!
White dove take flight, into the night!
Sing you frightful tune,
Fly across the full quarter moon!
Soon daybreak will cast her rays!
Soon darkness will fade away.
Take flight, I say, and till day cast her frightful rays!
White dove take flight into the night,
Sing your frightful tune!
XD I like yours though ^^

Please do not use a poem previously used on goodreads. After the week's contest, you are welcome to put it on your profile writings, but please refrain from using stories you have already put on there.
You have until Saturday afternoon to post a poem on here.
This week's topic is Bird. If anyone has any objections to this topic, please send Abbee a message. The rules are pretty loose. You could write about something that has to do with Bird. Or you could just have the word in the poem.
Winners will be announced on Monday afternoon by Abbee.
Good luck!
