Trisha and I would love to have you join as we read this standalone by the one and only, Neal Shusterman!

I ran out of time to pick up my copy today..... :)

No worries. I haven't started it either. I was busy all day and went to a movie and dinner with one of my granddaughters. :)

Unschooled I had forgotten just how good Neal Shusterman is! I know I've only read the first story, 21 pages, 9% of the book but man did it pique my interest!

Jasper/Jazz (view spoiler)[I don't know why he wanted to join the feral gang so badly. I'm not sure why his home life was so bad, but I'm glad in the end he didn't. I don't know that I like the revenge he got on Alph but maybe Alph will get some help. I still can't imagine being in a society that rewinds their teens. (hide spoiler)]

Alph (view spoiler)[is like what I believe many gang leaders are like: a tough outside to prove his "worth" or his "power" and yet probably just a scared, low self-esteemed boy who really just wants love. (hide spoiler)]

I didn't realize this book was short stories and had co-authors so that's pretty cool.

Alph(view spoiler)[ alph was completely dead on - Jazz had won the lottery in life and got a good family and he was just taking it for granted. I hate that he came back and took alph (hide spoiler)]

this was a scary good story to start!

I can't believe (view spoiler)[the inhumane experimentation Dr. Rodin performed on people...oh. my. god. I don't even want to repeat it here due to the gross detail but what a despicable man! (hide spoiler)]

Colton (view spoiler)[ was rather gutsy for volunteering himself not having any real idea what would happen to him for sure. But I'm glad he took the chance and things are better for some people now. Very brave! (hide spoiler)]

I finished this on Jan. 1 but forgot to comment.

I was just so sad to see (view spoiler)[the EVIL committed on so many young people. (hide spoiler)] I often wonder what kind of person I am that can read something so SICK and then give it 5 stars. lol

I did like the short stories and the various characters throughout. It gave me more of a feel for the world that would Unwind their own children. I can't remember names now, but there was one family that (view spoiler)[unwound one child so that their other (more perfect or perfect) child could live. I mean, come on now. What kind of a mother could pick one child over another to live? And parents that would give up their imperfectly formed children. (hide spoiler)] Ugh...can't say I'd want to be any part of that society!!
