Nominations:The second book in a series
Whodunnits
biography/autobiography
New-to-you authors
Modern classics
Memoirs
Since we are a small group multiple nominations are most acceptable, with perhaps a maximum of three.
I like the idea of reading the second book in a series. I try to read entire series at the same time so I don't have to revisit them a year later :)
Since making that nomination, I've realised just how many second in a series I do need to read. They just keep on popping up!
What's a modern classic?Will be reading:
The second book in a series
Whodunnits
biography/autobiography
New-to-you authors
and
Memoirs
Here's the list of books shelved by Goodreaders as "modern classic". https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/... While no help at all with a definition, it at least gives an idea of what other people consider to be modern classics.A little googling may unearth something more descriptive in the line of what constitutes a modern classic. I spotted articles from the Guardian and the TLS on the subject after just a very quick search (neither of which I read, tbh).
Ah! Thank you for that. Will try the Guardian. Trust their intelligence quota!I think the trouble will be that what is my idea of a classic is not someone else's. What I would re-read is not what you might like.
And as an off the topic aside - Anyone who likes websites and can comment helpfully re what should and should not be there is cordially invited to take a peep at my nearly finished revamped website to see if it is reader frendly and interesting enough for readers.

Please have your nominations in by 18 July after which time I'll set up a poll.
