Kate S | 6459 comments Muriel Spark earned 8 (!) honorary doctorates in her lifetime, read a book by an author who has been bestowed at least one. Please leave a qualifying link in the help thread, if it is not included in their Goodreads Author bio.

Please post any qualifying links in this thread.

Will that work?

If you can find that from somewhere other than the comedian's mouth we'll take it.

I thought he was just joking about the TYPE of honorary degree.... I thought any of the celebrity speakers at commencement speeches...especially Harvard, were given honorary degrees. But I have been proven wrong.

I'm sorry, Elizabeth. I was trying to share the list of authors with the others in the group, not thinking that you would have to approve them all. I edited my post to the one author whose book is on my shelf, David McCullough.

No problem, Connie. I was getting a bit cranky besides.

McCullough is added! (What are you going to read by him? I enjoyed his Mornings on Horseback: The Story of an Extraordinary Family, a Vanished Way of Life, and the Unique Child Who Became Theodore Roosevelt)

I have his book, 1776, to read. He's one of my husband's favorite authors, and he enjoyed the Teddy Roosevelt book too.
