Swimming Pool

"I'm going to be swimming now, Ketsu," Ayeka softly said aloud while she tied her hair up into a tight pony. She was in the changing room, isolated from anyone though. No one was around her as she spoke and she locked her things up in her locker. Holding her towel, she headed out and headed to the seating area to lay down her things. Once there, she slipped into the pool, holding onto the side. She inhaled deeply, feeling nervous. Ketsu was absent, something she was used to since her love of water. With him gone, she always felt nervous and anxious. Taking a deep breath, she turned to the crystal clear waters of the Nanba Prison School and smiled. She wouldn't let this chance go to waste. It was rare that she was allowed out. No one on the staff trusted her, Ketsu at least from what she'd learned. It wasn't fair but she could do nothing about it.
Pushing off the wall, she began her laps in the giant pool.
Pushing off the wall, she began her laps in the giant pool.

He walked to the pool's edge now and sat down carefully, taking off his shoes and socks, and rolling up the hems of his pants to just below his knees. He dipped his feet into the water, sloshing them in small circles. Movement nearby caught his eye, and he looked up to find a slender girl already in the pool. He waited till she glanced at him and made a friendly wave in her direction.
Malayeka managed two laps down the pool before she was resting on the wall, holding herself up in place with a hand placed gently on the pool's edge. She inhaled deeply, feeling refreshed but still tense. Being so alone in such a big space was intimidating. However, after she brushed her wet bangs from her eyes, something caught the corner of her gaze and she peered over to see a guard by the poolside. She looked at them, a bit curiously but they were too far away to see very clearly. She was going to leave them be despite wishing to go over and greet them when she saw them wave. Hoping that it wouldn't be unreasonable or irritating for them, she swam over to give them a proper greeting. Reaching the wall by the guard, holding onto it, she peered up at him and gave him a polite and kind smile. "I apologize if I am bothering you, I just wanted to come say hello," she told him, her voice soft and sweet. Everything about her expressed a delicate but elegant woman- despite the massive scar torn down the left side of her face. She was beautiful despite the flaw.
Being this close, she noticed something off with the man and her brows furrowed slightly in concern. "Are you feeling unwell?" she asked, hoping she wasn't prying into his affairs. She couldn't help it, her first instinct was to help others in need. It didn't help she had natural mothering tendencies. Ketsu had scolded her many times due to it.

He returned her smile with an equally kind one of his own. "You aren't bothering me at all, please don't worry about it." He assured her gently. He smiled again at her next question, although it was just a bit weaker than his earlier one, as if trying to show her that he was well enough to smile. "I'll be fine, I might just need a few minutes in here. But thank you for your consideration."
Ayeka gave him a grateful smile when he assured her, causing those worries to slip away. It didn't mean she wouldn't still be careful when addressing him. She didn't want to offend or scare him away somehow. Having him here was a comfort, especially since he seemed to be quite the nice young man. "I see, I am glad I haven't."
She nodded, knowing better than to push the issue, she'd been slapped enough afterwards to know not to push a subject that someone rather not discuss.
"If you get cold, my towel is right over there," she told him kindly, motioning towards it. Her eyes then widened for a moment, surprised at herself for being so rude.
"My apologies, I haven't introduced myself. My name is Malayeka, you may call me Ayeka if you'd like," she told him, a light blush on her pale cheeks. She was embarrassed at her improper behaviour of talking to him without even introducing herself at first. She hesitated in offering a hand for a handshake since it was wet and she wasn't sure if he was a hundred percent okay.

Ayeka shook her head, "you needn't worry about that, it would be the least of my worries if it was possible," she assured him but she didn't push the issue once again. If anything, she was offering something dirty to him already. Her hands were covered in so much red that it must stain everything she touched. The offer still stood and if she feared that he was getting too cold or something, she'd personally get it for him. She wouldn't mind waiting a bit to get back to her cell to dry off. Ketsu would scold her considerably, especially if she got herself sick but that was the least of her worries.
Ayeka gasped softly in surprise when he suddenly grasped hold of her hand, that was in the water and shook it. She blinked in surprise before she gave him a bright smile. "You as well Mr. Katsuro," she responded happily. She returned her hand to the water when he released it, glancing at his hand but bit her lip to stop herself from commenting on it. She needn't nitpick.

"I don't swim very often," he replied honestly. "I honestly don't know if I even still remember how to." He smiled sheepishly. "But I would probably like it, it does seem relaxing."
Kiun wasn't one to relax often, but that didn't mean he couldn't appreciate it when he did. He knew Atsushi liked swimming; he claimed it "increased his attractive nature around the women", though Kiun never did quite understand what he meant. Or rather, he hadn't really attempted to, knowing his brother didn't care for it just as much as Kiun didn't. He was a terrible actor mostly, but he could do it if he really tried as well.
Ayeka kept her gaze on him, listening to him intently and politely as he answered her question. She nodded with a soft smile, "I see. It is very relaxing. If you ever desire to get into swimming I will be happy to assist you in finding your sea legs," she said, cracking a small joke. She loved swimming and wouldn't hesitate to share that joy with someone else. Ketsu never understood due to his fear of water. It was almost to the point where he refused to step into a bath that was more than a quarter full. She also didn't have any friends at the prison yet so there wasn't anyone to currently swim with either.
"You might find the hot tub more enjoyable," she realized and voiced, gesturing over to where it was located on the deck. "If you have swimwear and such," she ended with her voice getting quiet, drifting off. She should leave him be for now and get back to her laps.

((I want to pinch his cheeks))
She smiled, "it wouldn't be a trouble," she assured him, "I enjoy helping out so please do not hesitate to ask," she said but also concluded the topic since she got the distinct feeling he wasn't overly comfortable being dependent on anyone. He was much stronger than she was. "That is a shame," Ayeka admitted honestly but alas quietly. She was sure he would enjoy the hot tub especially if he was sick. Having hot baths always seemed to cleanse the body. In any normal situation, she would have checked his temperature and got him what he needed but she was confined by rules and regulations.
She looked at him when he asked his question and glanced around a bit before back to respond. "As often as I am allowed," she responded with a small smile. Due to Ketsu, a lot of the guards did not trust them out of their cell. However, a few rather nice guards sometimes took her here and she always had to clear it with Ketsu since he wouldn't be able to do anything to protect her here if something were to happen. He was always very paranoid about it.

He smiled at her reassurance, though as earlier, made no reply to it out of consideration. He gave her an apologetic and sheepish look when she claimed his defiance was a shame, quite agreeing with her. He knew about the many benefits that were associated with the hot tub, and was sure it could've helped ease his health a bit, but he was determined to heal on his own with time as his only ally. He had to be strong to remain here.
He noticed her glancing about nervously before she responded to his question, and when he heard her answer, he knew why. She was a prisoner, he knew now, and was nervous of someone seeing them because it would be a pretty odd thing to catch a prisoner and guard chatting together leisurely. Being that Kiun was a guard, and his duty always came first, he was resolved to stay and watch over her now, as it didn't seem there were any supervisors, which bothered Kiun a bit. There should have been a guard watching her, where were they? Perhaps they were slacking off. If so, Kiun resolved, he would have to advise them to refrain from doing it again later.
Despite knowing Ayeka's role now, Kiun's attitude towards her didn't change at all. Her being an inmate didn't change the fact that he thought she was a very kind and sweet girl, and she had given him no reason to think otherwise. Prisoner or not, he respected her just as much as he respected anyone, if not more for her nature.
"And is that very often?" He inquired.
((xD))
In her circumstance, her being allowed to be alone to swim would be unprecedented. However, she was only allowed to go at times where no one else [inmate wise at least] would be in the water. Since no one knew about Ketsu's fear of water, the probability of someone accidentally pissing him off was high. As for the guard situation, there was one stationed just outside the room and someone from security watching the cameras while she was in. After the first two incidents that occurred when she first went swimming, it was safer for everyone if the guard remained outside of the room unless she did something. There was still a slight dent in the wall from Ketsu throwing a guard into it.
Ayeka herself didn't know everything behind the reasoning, Ketsu keeping that from her as well but she just accepted it since it allowed her to swim.
She smiled at Kiun and shook her head, "unfortunately, no," she replied softly, moving her hand through the water. "Most of the guards don't like moving me around and I can not attend when other inmates are using it," she explained. She saw no reason to hide it from him. "Mostly, Ketsu doesn't like leaving me alone for this long," she added and then froze, eyes widening. Ketsu was someone so deeply ingrained in her life that mentioning him didn't seem odd. However, she had gotten scolded from him before for telling people about him. He warned her against it. She had failed to do that for him.
"I am sorry... I am rambling," she apologized while moving slightly away unconsciously.

Kiun frowned empathetically upon hearing that she didn't get to come here often, seeing how much she seemed to enjoy it. Thoughtfully, he considered perhaps offering to bring her here himself on his next break, though he couldn't voice this aloud, since he wasn't sure when that would be, and he would feel terrible if he made her wait too long. He listened to her reasoning silently, and though normally one might want to inquire about why the guards didn't like her moving around with other inmates, Kiun didn't feel the need to, he'd already formed a guess as to why that was, and doubted he very far off. The guards would have no reason to isolate her unless she held some sort of promising ability that made her a threat, specifically one capable of harm. She could've almost deceived Kiun; she didn't look like she would have such an ability at all with how gentle she appeared, had it not been for his own ability which allowed him to pick up on her every word and piece it together like a puzzle.
He tilted his head in amusement, however, when she mentioned a new name and backed away from him subconsciously. He smiled softly at her, in hopes of lessening her worries and showing her that he wouldn't do any harm even if he knew this information. "It's not a problem, it's pretty enjoyable speaking with you. If you wouldn't mind my asking, who is Ketsu? A close companion?"
Ayeka looked at him, his smile very comforting and she didn't see any harm in telling him. Kiun didn't seem to be the type to treat her oddly. She knew he was probably aware that she was a prisoner at this point but he was still treating her so nicely. "Thank you," she said softly, "I enjoy talking with you as well," she said honestly. Ever since coming here, she hadn't socialized much. She felt very weighed down by everything that she'd been through and what she learned about what Ketsu had been keeping from her. Speaking to a lovely man was relaxing, especially since he didn't make any threatening motions.
Ayeka bit her lower lip in contemplation before replying. "He wouldn't want me to tell you," she admitted to Kiun, "but I do not see the harm in it." She hesitated for a moment, trying to get her words together before she began to speak. Her gaze turned away and back at the water. "Ketsu's my closest friend," she told Kiun with a bright smile. "He's always protecting me but he doesn't want me to tell others about him," she said, glancing at him. She was rather ignorant of how crazy it sounded, simply happy to be telling someone about him. Ketsu has done a lot of bad things but he'd always been there for her when no one else has. She could never ask for more. "He is a companion of sorts, he's always with me except for the times I want to swim..... He's told me before not to tell people that but I don't know why."

Ayeka looked at him, her expression open and trusting. She wanted to know why he told her that and it seemed like he had the answer. She didn't have a doubt in her mind that he'd be truthful with her. One could think she was purely gullible but she honestly trusted someone wholeheartedly and would only change her opinion on what she witnessed from the person personally. It helped that his tone was also playful, assuring the timid woman that he was enjoying this interaction as much as she was. "You do?" she asked softly, her expression curious and the small smile on her lips kind and hopeful. "May you tell me why?" she asked almost eagerly. Both her hands were placed side by side elegantly on the desk, holding in place.

He too, much like Ayeka, could be quite gullible as well. He was cautious, of course, being a guard and all, but normally once he formed a good opinion of someone he did not change it till they showed otherwise. He found he could relate to Ayeka a lot more than he'd initially thought; where she had Ketsu, he had Atsushi. He laughed at how similar their situations were, despite their opposite roles. Although, he tried to contain his laugh, since he worried Ayeka might find it weird that he just suddenly burst out laughing.
Ayeka's eyes widened a bit in realization at his words and blushed. Ketsu was always worrying about him, overly concerned about her and it touched her heart. She was so lucky to have him in her life. "I see," she said with a happy smile. She looked at him curiously, "do you have someone like that in your life?" It seemed like he knew what he was talking about. She wondered if Ketsu would like Kiun. He was a very nice man. She knew Ketsu didn't like people but maybe he could socialize with him.
She paused for a moment, glancing at the time, the big clock on the wall. She only had a few more minutes before she would have to leave. She didn't want to, but she wouldn't want to bother anyone by letting her desires known. Ketsu would scold her and tell her that that was the reason people stepped all over her.

He liked her smile, it seemed genuine. Normally, he accepted most who remained genuine to him. That is also why he was rather curious to meet with the person named "Ketsu" that she had spoken of, since he sounded as genuine as can be, and he was a little similar to Atsushi as well. Kiun got along with his brother wonderfully, so perhaps he would yield the same results if he were ever to meet Ketsu.
He followed her gaze to the clock on the wall. Considerately, he inquired, "Do you have to leave soon?"
Ayeka's listened to Kiun attentively, smiling as he talked about his older brother. Just by those small statements, she knew how much he loved his brother. It was beautiful. She knew that feeling once too. The feeling of adoring one's older brother. "I may have, " she replied though she can't recall if she had or not. "I will greet him if I happen to from now on," she replied, quite excited at the prospect. She hadn't socialized much since arriving, the guilt of what she'd done to get here weighing her down.
Ayeka then nodded, giving him a smile though sorrowful. She enjoyed speaking with him and wished to do some more swimming before she'd have to wait however many more days until she could come again. It was a shame. "I do," she confirmed vocally, "I hope it won't be too much of a bother, but I do hope that I can speak with you once again if we happen to meet?" she requested softly, fiddling nervously with the deck's surface.

He noticed the sadness in her smile, it wasn't as bright as before, and he would have asked her about if if she hadn't spoken a few moments later. He understood why she felt sorrow then, though she hadn't stated it directly, and he felt empathetic towards her. She didn't have much freedom, he knew, though he didn't see the harm in giving her some. He also noticed how nervous she was to hear his reply, and wanting to reassure he, he gave her yet another lovely smile. "It's no bother, I wouldn't mind speaking with you another time. You need a guard to come here, correct? On my next break, perhaps I can escort you here." He offered.
Ayeka giggled softly, her hand coming up to hide her mouth as she did so. She could relate to that statement a lot. Ketsu was the exact same way. Many found him difficult to talk to when they happened to socialize with him, at least that's what she figured. He was brash and crude but his heart was in a good place.
When he confirmed that she could talk to him but not only that, offered to take her swimming at some point, her expression lit up like a Christmas tree. She looked so ecstatic at the prospect of being able to talk to him again and even visiting this place with him again. She didn't know how Ketsu would take it but she was sure he could grow to trust Kiun. "Thank you, I greatly appreciate the offer," she told him happily, holding herself back from taking his hand. She didn't want him any wetter than he already was.
The main entrance to the pool opened just then, the guard that had escorted her here peeking their head in. A warning for her to get out and get ready to go. She nodded at them before she pulled herself gracefully up out of the pool. She moved over to the chair that she'd put her things down, patting herself dry before she gathered everything. She looked over at Kiun, moving back over and bowed, "it was a pleasure meeting you," she told him once she straightened up. "I hope you feel better, please take care of yourself and get some rest," she advised with a kind smile before she darted off to the change rooms. She was so excited to tell Ketsu about her new friend.

He whipped around to glance at the entrance when he heard the door open then, staring quietly at the new face. So there had been a guard, after all. It would've been strange had there not been, considering how much they seemed to fear Ayeka's ability. He made a polite nod of acknowledgement at the guard, then turned back around to face Ayeka as she stood and got out of the pool. Listening to her words, a thankful smile played on his lips. "Thank you," he replied. "It was a pleasure meeting you as well." He waved after her as she ran off.
Glancing at the pool in front of him, he pulled his legs out and rested them on the cool marble, waiting patiently for the water to dry off. He figured he'd head to the lounge; truthfully, he would prefer to get back to work, but knew his brother would scold him if he returned after no more than a mere 15 minutes. Even then, he'd only stayed that long because of Ayeka, as she was enjoyable to talk to, and if it hadn't been for her he probably would've left a while ago, regardless of his condition.
((They're so cute and it's adorable and it'll be a beautiful friendship and I can't wait for him to meet Ketsu and him to click those last pieces together and! *gushing*
