((The school's front gate is a large rusted ornate gate attacked with vines. The paint is chipping and there are always rust particles on your hand when you open it.))

Kael had decided to take a moment away from everyone. It wasn't because he was being anti-social, the reason was that he wanted some peace and quiet. Especially while eating his lunch. He intended to enjoy every bite and had no intention of not enjoying something as scrumptious as an egg salad sandwich. Scrounging through his paper bag, he pulled the wrapped deliciousness out and helped himself to one of the most heavenly sandwiches ever invented. Some of the brussel sprouts hide on the corners of his mouth but he quickly licked them away. When he swallowed, Kael looked up and saw a few students laughing at each other's jokes and wondered what it may have been like for him to have some friends while in the school. Would it have made his life any easier to deal with? Or would it have an opposite effect? Kael simply didn't know. But what he did know was that he was absolutely famished

Kael was momentarily surprised to see that someone had sat on the other side of the bench. Seeing who it was, Kael gave a shy smile. The person was one of his classmates. Adelaide something or other. One of the students who typicaly earned the top grades in class. "Hi, Adelaide," he said softly, figuring that it would be quite rude should he ignore her. And if his mother ever taught him anything, it was to never be rude in a young lady's presence. And if anyone deserved respect, it was her. For how could he not when she seemed to be just as studious as himself? He only prayed she didn't see him as some sort of weirdo. The last thing he needed was to be labeled as the "socially awkward guy."

((Haha! XD Not a problem! You don't need to match the length of Mine. XD))

Kael's smile turned into a frown for a moment before him having a strain expression. Well, he was to blame for her not to notice him earlier. But then again, there were a lot of students in the classes and only a few remembered each other. He should've been grateful that she even knew his name. Firmly shaking her hand, Kael nodded. "I don't believe so either. I have been meaning to talk to you but just haven't made the time to do so."

"I doubt that I would be able to get through that class were it not for him," Kael admitted, taking another bite from his sandwich. "He seems to have a way for making it entertaining and not so. . . dull. Which is why I tend to appreciate that class more than others." Though he did enjoy his Animo classes, there was something relaxing with English that made it seem like you couldn't wait for the teacher to start teaching. Seeing that she had her laptop with her, Kael raised his eyebrows and asked, "You working on one of those assignments?"

"Interesting would be one word to describe her," Kael said with a small chuckle. Cocking his head to the side, he said, "Can't say that I have. But the name itself sounds like it would be a good read." And he thought he read every single book ever born! Sticking a mental note into the back of his head, Kael wanted to check out who this author was and what his book was about. "You could say that," he tcould of her shyly, inspecting the delicious egg in his lunch. "I do have a tendency to read during my spare time." Kael, too, was enjoying the conversation. At first, he almost dreaded having a conversation with a fellow student

"All right," Kael said simply after finishing his sandwich. Gosh, this was what he had feared. The conversation eventually became rather awkward. Clearing his throat as he fished around in his paper bag for a Ding Dong, he asked her, "Wanna half it?"

"Nah, it's fine," Kael assured her before opening the tin foil and carefully snapped the piece in half. "I'm sure you would repay me one way or the other. But I wouldn't hang it over your head or anything." He handed her the bigger half and muncher on his own. "Do you need any help with your paper?" He asked her curiously, knowing that while he had no knowledge of the book, perhaps he could be of some help.

As Kael read through the paper, he had to admit that Adelaide was a master with words. He weaved them so well together that he would've thought he was reading a novel instead of a boring ol' paper. When he finished, Kael moved the laptop back towards her and said, "Well, now I understand why you're the top student in almost every single class. This is great, Adelaide!"

"It doesn't sound like you're bragging to me," Kael said, his face stricken with surprise as he assured her. While she tucked her laptop away, he asked her, "Why can you only type? Does your writing ability only kick in when you type rather than if you wrote it down?"

"Woah," was all Kael could say. Sure, he knew that some children went into that house where the peculiar children went, but he never really came across one before. And Adelaide wasn't at all freaky, she was just like them, despite the rumors saying that those kids were creepy. "That's. . . such a cool ability. Despite mine," Kael told her, snorting at how pathetic his power was. "I'm a Swift. Meaning I can move my body at a much higher speed than everyone else. Makes it fun when I go grocery shopping but still-" He shrugged. "-I sometimes wished I had something better, like yours."

"Well, you do write, just not like. . . most of us, I guess. But you still can type and you wouldn't have to worry about the whole thing of things coming out from your words. And besides, typing is much faster than writing on a piece of paper. Unless you're a Swift, like me," Kael told her with a smirk. It was curious to him as to why she would thinkher ability wasn't all that grand. Sure, Adelaide may be scared of using it but what if she used it for a good cause? Shifting on his side of the bench, Kael whipped out his notebook with a pen and opened it up for her. Handing the two items to Adelaide he said, "Why not write something simple? Like a cake? Particularly chocolate cake please."

"Marvelous," Kael said softly as he stared at the wonderful dessert before him. See? How could she like her ability? She'd never have to buy groceries for the rest of her life! But then, maybe that's what Adelaide feared. Perhaps if she relied too much on her power, maybe she would be dependent on it rather than going out and experiencing the reality of the world like the rest of them. "Thank you," he said to her as he pulled out his knife and started to slice the cake, giving it to her before helping himself toa small piece. "Now why are you so afraid of it all, Adelaide?" He asked her

"Hm. I guess you shouldn't write horror stories, huh?" Kael teased her with a wink as he dug a fork into his cake. "Now that would be something you should most definitely stay far away from." When Adelaide brought up about people finding out what she was, Kael couldn't help but shudder slightly. It was always horrible to him whenever he thought of the what ifs when it came to if someone found out about them. Would the school relocate and gather as many students as they could and evacuate? "I'm sure that nothing will happen. After all, you could always write about a dragon who helped you escaped."

When Kael looked up from his plate, he didn't think Adelaide would take the joke that badly. But then again, she seemed to be terrified of her ability in general. As she paled, he pointed his fork at her slice. "Eat some more cake, that will get your face looking normal." He nodded at her problem. "True. So many write tiny little beings which don't attack other passerbys but only the people who are harming you?"

"Oh, okay," Kael mumbled as she suddenly got up to leave. "I'll just enjoy this lovely cake by myself!" He was only teasing but a part of him had hoped she would stay for a little while. Then again, Adelaide probably had other things to do than sit and chat. As she walked away, Kael turned in his seat and yelled, "See you tomorrow?"

"That's a good girl," Kael murmured while chewing his bite. He was glad that Adelaide had decided to stay and that he may enjoy her company for a short while before she had to leave. "That is too true. Even the most sad of the lot could feel immediately better. You know what? Your fictional cake tastes absolutely scrumptious!"

"Nope, not lonely," Kael said to her, finishing the rest of his slice. "Just wanted to get to know you, is all. And as I'm sure you've noticed, I don't exactly have many friends lined up to have a decent enough chat with me."

"Well, you are to me. Not everyone earns themselves a spot at the top of the class, you know. And I figured that any person who does that, I should try and get to know. Swipe some crafty secrets of their note-taking and all that," Kael teased, cutting a small piece and plopping it on his plate. "Ha, ha. Very funny. You're one of the few people I actually talked to this past week. Aside from classes, of course"

"Cheating!" Kael exclaimed as though it was truly the most horrible thing in the world. "I would never cheat, dear lady, for to cheat is like stealing. Or just as bad. And I would appreciate any help you could offer."

"Umm. Science has been giving me trouble," Kael admitted as he blushed from his cheeks to his neck, not sure if it should be normal for someone like him to admit that he needed help. "That would be lovely. I do visit the library often, so now quarrel there."

"Er, not so much biology," Kael admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. "But I do enjoy learning about the chemistry part of it." He nodded at her proposition. "That would be wonderful. And it's not like I'm busy anyway. As I'm sure you've noticed."

"Yup. That would work," Kael said with a smile as he finished the last bit of his cake. "Totally and completely." So Kale picked up his things and headed for his dorms to collect his needed mageeials
