Not sure if it's just me but I feel like Oliver, Alice and Laylee act and speak vey maturely for their age.
I'm not really connecting with the story. And I thought there would be more world building... but there isn't. Maybe it's because I've not read Furthermore. But that is set in a different town and the book itself says you it's an entirely different story.
I am very curious however to find out more about their magic powers. I don't really understand how it all works. Not sure if that's again because I've not read Furthermore or if it's going to be explained a little later in the story.
