Paranormal and Horror Lovers discussion

As a horror author myself I'm rather curious as to what readers actually prefer to read.

I've always been more into the anthologies and long-form novels but I know there are bunch of short stories out there as well that many enjoy. What is really the preferred type of book for horror and paranormal fiction fans?

I like a good creepy short story, but most of my paranormal and horror stories have been novels of 200 pages or more.

I like a horror story that is beautifully written and is character driven. I highly recommend "The Windsome Tree" by Eileen Albrizio. I couldn't put it down. The characters are so real, they stayed with me long after I finished the novel. The Windsome Tree: A Ghost Story

I love horror stories that are not too bloody or gory yet have that "bone-chilling" effect. The Villa

I've read Lovecraft too. My favorite is The Shadow over Innsmouth. I love classic ghost stories too. My favorite is E.F. Benson. A scary story is The Room in the Tower. Good quiet horror.

I love Stephen King, most specifically his stories Cujo and IT.
